Re: Sub buteo Birthday Cards

ASDA (Associated Dairies) was a British company that was taken over a few years ago by Walmart, m'thinks. Still a British company. More specifically, registered in England and Wales, no 464777. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/00464777 Just owned by foreigners. Like a number of football c...

Black Players in Subbuteo

Had a discussion with Lloydie this morning.

When did black players arrive in the Subbuteo catalogue ?

Was it the ref 50 Brazil team ? Or the West Indian cricketers ? :?

Re: Sub buteo Birthday Cards

I couldn't find any in the Cas Vegas (birthplace of Asda) branch but they're not an Asda product so they could be on sale anywhere.

Re: Skills Trainer

Plastic board with holes in ?

Plastic board with elastic bands ? Actually, this wasn't bad if you were Billy No Mates, although a bit distracting having to flick the ball then try to save it a millisecond later. :lol!:

Passing cone and skittles ? No - collectors' item only.

Re: Subbuteo British Toy Fair Display

Not something I'd be interested in even if it was £4.60.

England had a different flag in those days, I see.

1895 Cup Final

For those unaware, Flash and I have an "engagement" at Wembley on Saturday.

Good luck pal - but not too much luck, obviously.

is the art of decals difficult?
In theory, no. But, as with a lot of things, it's a bit fiddly and requires practice.

It obviously gives a more realistic result but, imho, they lose a bit of their charm, somehow.

Re: 1949 box set

If you look at early adverts in the 40,50,60s for Subbuteo they often added a dept number to the address. There seem to be many depts. I'm guessing in the true nature of early SSG it was more for effect, than numerous departments. Having departments was - and still is - a way of monitoring the effi...

Re: 1949 box set

The big box label looks very much like some previous owner's attempt to label a big box to keep all his Subbuteo stuff in.

The Lodge - is that your grandma's address, Mark ? :?
