Re: Subbuteo Pet Hates

t oh hang on....yes....people who cannot pronounce the name Sub-bew-teo properly. (It's not Sub-boo-teo ) This. "Sub-boo-teo" sounds twee and unnatural to me...who pronounces a "u" in the middle of a word as "oo" anyway? Here are my other ones: Rattlers Zombies Dishonest eBay traders...

www.subbuteostadium.com

Has anyone had a look at this website, in particular their floodlights page: https://www.subbuteostadium.com/floodlights/ Just wondering whether this webite is legit, and if so, is their claim true that " 4 SubbuteoStadium floods are more than enough to light up your pitch "? I have been looking for...

A Question About Paul Lamond's Balls

I am specifically asking about the standard 2t2mm white ball with the black Subbuteo logo on it (the one they sell on SubbuteoWorld for £1.99). Does anyone on this Forum use them? If so, what are they like in terms of weight, quality of manufacture etc.? Are they the same as the old white balls with...

Re: Daily Mail Article

"It took until 1990 for the first black Subbuteo players to be introduced into the game". Really?? The 1973-74 Team Chart suggests otherwise... ;-)

Re: Solo Tournament Points System

And are Ireland or Northern Ireland invited to enter that ? :? Just how retro are you ? Come on, man...haven't you ever read any of my previous posts? In my Subbuteo universe, it is ALWAYS the early-mid 1970s, at least in style and image....the era when I took the game up originally. The who...

Re: Solo Tournament Points System

I use 2 points for a win in the Home International Championship (a permanent fixture in my Subbuteo universe, despite the real-life tournament having ended in 1984 ;-) ). Over the years it has led to some very exciting and close-fought finishes, with the outcome often depending on the final match (E...

Re: Subbuteo on TV tonight....

Well, I finished watching the episode, and I have to say I was disappointed (although not surprised) by it. As usual with this type of programme, its main aim seemed to be to sneer at the past, while smugly reassuring its 21st Century audience of just how superior and perfect 2016 is in every way (y...

Re: Subbuteo on TV tonight....

Just watching this on allmyvideos.net. What I'd like to know is: how did the Dad have a Super 8 cine camera in 1962? The Super 8 format wasn't released until 1965... ;-)

Re: What the f**k is subbooko?

Your daughter's beau is obviously a proper charmer. Yeah, I would have him for swearing at my daughter, for a start. I would tell him in no uncertain terms not to show his face my house again until he learned some manners, and to treat my daughter with proper respect. And as if that behaviour isn't...

I looked up "summising" and there is no such word in the dictionary. I surmise that you meant "surmising"... ;-)

Re: PLG Missing sponsors logo

I wish ALL football kits were missing the sponsor's logo. As someone who grew up in the pre-sponsorship era, I bloody hate 'em. Football shirts always look FAR better without them IMHO...

Re: Cricket and Rugby

It all certainly looks very nice.

The question is, though: has anyone figured out a way to make the damn game playable, unlike the original Subbuteo Rugby?

I bought a Subbuteo Rugby set back in 1973 but gave up after a few attempts, as in practice it was unworkable...

"loose"? they don't look particularly loose to me.

Still, gaining that 87 makes up for "loosing" out on the other one... ;-)
