Re: Brighton legends

A fine set of stripes there Gullseye. Let's hope the current seagulls can eclipse that team of the late 70s, from what I've seen they have every chance.

Palace legends

Not painted for a while and certainly nowhere near the outstanding work of many of you. These are a Christmas present for a friend. zeugo figures, HW style bases, humbrol enamel paints, hair by milliput. Merry Christmas to all.

Re: charity shop find

Repainted Derby County and Liverpool from the original haul, not perfect by a long way but something now resembling the original kits.

Re: charity shop find

yup the power of Dettol, the house stunk of it, Mrs H not a fan but I rather liked it  it's met it's match now though, limited success with over painted red inners which have stained the white bases

Re: charity shop find

Evening fellas, so I've had a go restoring the '78' to something more akin to their original look. This team had been over painted with gloss in blue with a red band, see beginning of the thread, and the inners had also been over painted with blue. Two soaks in Dettol and a good scrub with a toothbr...

Re: charity shop find

Cheers Zula, tis indeed a lovely 101. The over paints have yet to reveal themselves, certainly a 41. The red and blue was a 78 according to the box sticker and I think I can see a hint of a green inner, the other painted white with red sash has a hand written description of 'Derby County' and could ...

Re: charity shop find

Thanks Ralph nice bit of history, brings this small collection to life. Seems funny now that sports shops used to stock Subbuteo but I remember myself from the late 70s that this was the case, I also recall a shop in Crawley West Sussex that only seemed to sell prams and subbuteo!

Re: charity shop find

The typed label reads "BARNBYS LTD." but it could be a typo, two of the over painted references were a 78 (Coventry away) and Derby, along with a WBA, Birmingham City, a Villa and a reference 49 (but with Wolves written on the box) which led me to my deduction that the previous owner was from the Mi...

charity shop find

Evening all, I’ve not posted for some time and I haven’t been on the site much recently. I’ve never been a collector, and having been introduced to Subbuteo as a child from the late 1970s I missed the HW era, so until now I’ve never owned a HW team. Today my wife informed me that her Mum had spotted...
