Re: Brookfield Solo league: Season 08.

Just some end-of-season ramblings. Iveley Park are the 2nd. division two team to win the Cup, in this era. The other one was Blundell City in 02. No team has yet won it twice, whilst three of the previous winners were relegated in the same season. Next season, four of the cup winners will be playing...

Re: Welcome to the Forum

Welcome to the Forum, Cam. Hope you find information about the lightweights, as well as some teams you're looking for, and also, possibly, some good reads about the Subbuteo scene, past and present. Perhaps I could suggest, as a start, the SubbuteoWorld website, if you're not already familiar with i...

Re: Brookfield Solo league: Season 08.

Late Drama Decides Cup Final. Iveley Park 2, Molton United 1. The early exchanges were even, as the game began to settle into its contrast between Iveley Park's close passing game, and Molton taking the more direct route, relying, most of the time, on long passes for one or more of their pacy front...

Re: Brookfield Solo league: Season 08.

Nervous Waits for Both Teams. Flimside 2, Mill Athletic 0. Our final Featured League Match of the season began with the visitors, who requited a point to guarantee promotion, making the more positive start. An attack down their left produced an early chance for Ebanks-Blake, whose shot went wide. F...

Re: A very old rule.

Am I not entitled to play my game as I wish, without being persistently challenged? Which era do you come from? You appear not to approve of my project, but you claim to have been playing forty-five years and your favourite goals, which you express a working knowledge of, have not been available as ...

Re: A very old rule.

There appears to be some confusion, which is entirely my fault. Please accept my apologies. Regarding the keeper. He is entitled to be positioned, by hand, anywhere within his own box (i.e. the goal area) whenever a shot, or back pass, is about to be taken. This is in addition to any defensive flick...

Re: A very old rule.

Point taken regarding the chance element of holding keeper with one hand and shooting with the other. I'm a little surprised that a rules historian such as yourself isn't familiar with the 'Organising' rule. It certainly appeared in the sixties sets of Advanced Rules, which I'm still playing to at p...

Re: A very old rule.

Your first couple of questions are easy for me to answer. I play to the very old rule that keeper may advance to clear the ball anytime it is inside the penalty area, even if the ball is in possession of the attacking side. Perhaps I misread, or misinterpreted, that rule when I first saw it in a lat...

Re: Brookfield Solo league: Season 08.

Other Division One results, as they came in: Hodwell 0-0 Blackridge Town. Hodwell should be safe, Blackridge out of title chase anyway. Mill Town 1-0 Highwood Athletic. Not what Highwood wanted, but they are still ahead of Mill Town in the table. Eastroke United 1-0 Brimpton Rovers. Late Lukaku goal...

Re: Brookfield Solo league: Season 08.

Aberdither Get Their Part Right. Aberdither United 2, Greyston Town 1. We weren't intending to feature a specific match in this round of games, as we thought staying put and giving brief round-ups may have been more appropriate. We then had second thoughts, because if the League title was to be dec...

Re: What goals do you recommend?

I was, although the ones I use are the smaller equivalents.

They may be a bit old-fashioned for the modern big occasion matches, but they suit me fine and I really like them.

Re: A very old rule.

A very fair point, but if taken to its logical conclusion, we'd all be happily playing the game to the 2018/19 universally accepted rules. Although it wasn't planned, since my return to the game, which began with several modern 'slidey' teams playing on an astro pitch, to the seventies rules of bloc...
