Re: Stock timelines

You also have to remember that once purchased, kids often put teams back in the wrong boxes. I still do it now.

Re: Desperation strikes

Having had two original HW Melchester Teams, it's worth noting for any new collector, that the red ref label was the same one that SSG sometimes used on the Red Football Express Teams and Red Tracksuited Teams. The one shown on that link isn't one of these. Ian, your knowledge and ability to spot a...

Re: Gullseye FA Cup 2016/7

FA CUP FINAL EVERTON V NORTHAMPTON TOWN First Division Everton making their second final appearance in the last two years made a slow start against Division Two side Northampton. Both sides wasted some decent chances before Borrows broke free down the wing and hit a low shot from distance into the b...

Re: deader than a dead thing

We spent quite a lot last season two or three will leave ,one probably for a big fee, so we'll need to replace him and maybe sign four more to replace retirements, misfits and long term injuries .. they won't break the bank the wages are very much based on performance. Similar to the way they run th...

Re: Palmerston Park

Excellent work I can appreciate the amount of time you have invested. Also nice and compact so that you can easily play games. I've still got around another 1000 standing supporters to paint up at some point. I just got to a stage when I couldn't face doing any more. lol

Re: World Cup hw box labels x 16 Set repro

They look great Mark. 8) When I've made sets for World Cup projects in the past, I printed the names the same size as the original SSG. Just on to self adhesive paper. Then cut them to the same size. I then added sellotape over the top. To give that glossy look SSG had. I then used the serrated edg...

Re: Gullseye FA Cup 2016/7

Brighton out :O
No favoritism here. They were lucky to get a replay, with a shot that rebounded back off the goalie to Mike Robinson, who was spinning forward on his base and knocked home in the last seconds.

Re: Fouls

Of course it isn't possible to totally replicate Association Football on the small pitch, but as more recent developments have shown, loopholes in the rules are generally exploited, and then propagated across the playing community (such as as 8-0-2 formations or a player running the full length of ...

Re: Which Pitch?

Obviously the idea of the longer shooting line is to make the game easier for beginners, so good if you have young kids playing. I doubt whether the experienced player would use the pitch, as it is less of a challenge and not playing the game as it was intended. In the early years the shooting line ...

Re: Which Pitch?

I've not got one of the new astro's but do have the original one produced which is a nice surface if looked after. It did however get affected by changes in temperature and could wrinkle, the ball also runs much faster on an Astro. It was always best to roll these up when not in use. A lot of member...

Re: Which Pitch?

If you want a cheaper option just buy two old 1970's pitches from eBay and put one on top of the other. Lots of them available for £5+ and provide a perfectly playable surface.

Re: Fouls

Thank you. Can you explain a logical reason why? As I have written, I can't see any reason for the changing of the rule, even though it appears to have been applied in tournaments for over fifty years. The only possible reason I can think of is that as the position of the ball is not altered its no...
