Re: Gullseye FA Cup 2016/7

Brighton out :O
No favoritism here. They were lucky to get a replay, with a shot that rebounded back off the goalie to Mike Robinson, who was spinning forward on his base and knocked home in the last seconds.

Re: Fouls

Of course it isn't possible to totally replicate Association Football on the small pitch, but as more recent developments have shown, loopholes in the rules are generally exploited, and then propagated across the playing community (such as as 8-0-2 formations or a player running the full length of ...

Re: Which Pitch?

Obviously the idea of the longer shooting line is to make the game easier for beginners, so good if you have young kids playing. I doubt whether the experienced player would use the pitch, as it is less of a challenge and not playing the game as it was intended. In the early years the shooting line ...

Re: Which Pitch?

I've not got one of the new astro's but do have the original one produced which is a nice surface if looked after. It did however get affected by changes in temperature and could wrinkle, the ball also runs much faster on an Astro. It was always best to roll these up when not in use. A lot of member...

Re: Which Pitch?

If you want a cheaper option just buy two old 1970's pitches from eBay and put one on top of the other. Lots of them available for £5+ and provide a perfectly playable surface.

Re: Fouls

Thank you. Can you explain a logical reason why? As I have written, I can't see any reason for the changing of the rule, even though it appears to have been applied in tournaments for over fifty years. The only possible reason I can think of is that as the position of the ball is not altered its no...

Re: Base Shape

I think children swapping the boxes is only half the problem, thousands of teams came out of the factory in boxes or with disks or bases that shouldn't be possible according to timelines/rules etc. While of course it's great to find a team that is "perfect" and corresponds to all the rules, I think...

Re: Fouls

The phrasing in the Advanced Rules is open to the interpretation that a figure hitting an opposing figure without going on to hit the ball is not a foul. That is exactly how it is used in every tournament I have played. It is not a foul if the player just hits another player without going on to hit...

Re: First trophy solo season 2016/7

A few years ago I replicated a whole season of the old First Division for 1982/3 and it took 2 years to complete. I enjoyed playing it but would not attempt again as its a long haul. Since then I constructed four divisions of 12 teams in each and have relegation of two up and two down, apart from Di...

First trophy solo season 2016/7

League Cup Final Queens Park Rangers v Tottenham Hotspur Steve Archibald gave Spurs 1-0 lead on 22 minutes and looked to hold on until half time, but on a swift break away Gillard surging forward powered a shot home which flew in off Perryman. Spurs again took the lead after less than a minute of th...

Re: Gullseye FA Cup 2016/7

Good to see that the penalty shoot-out hasn't arrived in your Cup competition.
No this is 1982 so we keep playing until we get a winner. Just happy there were not too many to replay as i've also got league games to play.

Re: Holland 1988 Euro Final

Nice work again, I like this with the blue base. I suppose you could curl with those bases, but you would have to run in front of them with a brush.
