Re: World Cup 1966

THE QUARTER FINALS WEST GERMANY V FRANCE Emmerich had the ball in the back of the French net within 30 seconds of play and the Germans completely dominated the opening exchanges. It was sometime before France could retain the ball and set up an attack, but they gradually gained momentum and finished...

Re: HAVE YOU GOT A WILLY ?

I do hope, Sir, that your fine tournament has not been let down by faulty, or, dare I even suggest it, counterfeit supplies.

My concern is drawn by a spelling discrepancy.
Are you referring to "Willie" as that was how the name was spelt on all the merchandise.

HAVE YOU GOT A WILLY ?

Souvenirs are selling fast before England's quarter final match against Spain in the 1966 solo World Cup. Make sure you have yours ready.

Re: Some Original Defence Rules

I've not heard of any tournaments going back to the original 1950's rules that are still playing now. Ralph would probably be the best person on here to answer as he plays tournaments and uses flats.

Re: Some Original Defence Rules

Anyone who played by those rules would have to be at least in their 70's by now. I have all the old rule books and from reading the extract you refer to, I suspect that you could take the defensive flicks when you wished. In practice you would probably wait until an attacking flick was made and then...

Re: World Cup 1966

A twinge of disappointment to see those Hungarians have departed. A repeat of the Goodison Park classic in the quarter final? Portugal and North Korea are both in good scoring form, and you deserve it! Yes I wanted the Hungarians to stay in as well. One of those dangerous situations where only a dr...

Re: Removing plastic labels from box's?

Spud, they are Dymo labels. I did read somewhere that they can be removed by spraying some WD40 around the edges. Not sure what that would do to the box ! Why not try spraying a bit on an old box to see what the damage may be, if any.

Re: World Cup 1966

Yes I agree, but there were more valid reasons to expand it later to include other continents, than what has happened to the European Cup. The Champions League is much less exciting than the old European Cup which only had the real champions.

Re: World Cup 1966

Hope the Brazil v Hungary game turned out to be as good as the original, even if Hungary couldn't repeat their win. I still consider that match to have been the game of the Tournament, with Farkas's goal also the beat. I remember that Hungarian side fondly, and had they not had two unfortunate (or ...
