Re: Shipping from America

Bought some job lots from an American seller a year or two ago who'd got some old shop stock of UK made Subbuteo from 70s.
Main issue was having to pay 20% VAT to UK Customs before they allow items to be forwarded to you.
I guess same applies for anywhere outside EU.

Chelsea with blue socks. Hand written 42 ref sticker on box, so likely to be an over enthusiastic Subbuteo painter.

Subbuteo themed spin offs

Significant birthday this weekend has prompted various gifts from family and friends who know I collect Subbuteo.
The lamp is readily available from Robert Dyas, but the bag is from WH Smiths, printed in China. Don't know where the coasters came from.

Just picked up a near mint set with Partick & Hearts celluloid flats, but not sure about the balls that should go with it. The pack of red balls seem to be cricket balls. There were a couple of small white footballs but I've assumed that they should be smaller? On the left of the photo are 3 balls I...

Goalkeeper's handle

Apart from the goalie being broken, some one has customised a handle from what looks like a 6" nail. Don't think it'll catch on!

Gumtree

Was contacted by a lady who saw one of my Ads in the local paper. Her dad has multiple LW boxed sets and teams. I've since discovered it's on Gumtree for £250 - https://www.gumtree.com/p/hobbies-collectibles/subbuteo-collection/1288902669 If anyone is in the Bedworth / Coventry area and is intereste...

The Range

The Range store in Bracknell had a couple of items near the checkout that caught my eye-

Subbuteo shampoo / shower gel x 3 pack
Subbuteo shaving bag (5.99)

Will try and get a photo next time.

National Football Museum

Picked up a flier for the NFM, "Celebrating Five Years of Football Fun", which included a Subbuteo Summer Special.
Event was 3rd August, so had already gone, but good to see it being recognised.

Re: Buying off Gumtree

I've bought off Gumtree without seeing the stuff before I paid and it went ok. The risk is that you don't have a "safety net" as you would via Ebay. It's a call between your feeling and the value of what's involved. If you can afford to lose it, then it might be worth the risk. Remember, if the fell...

Re: Black shorts

It is difficult to be sure of the facts and whether one player has been painted any different to the rest or whether the buyer thinks he is being cheated. I looked through my spares and found other 77s with gloss shorts, which didn't look great. Who painted these, I don't know. I've offered a £10 di...
