Re: 4-2-4 loose players

I don't think so, partly because there's a very limited range if teams to collect. I paid £20 for 7000 of these painted figures from a fella near Tunbridge Wells. He wasn't sure, but he thought they were made locally. Now 4-2-4 was based in Guernsey (tax reasons?) but I can't imagine there was a ne...

Re: 4-2-4 loose players

Let us know if you find out whether they were subcontracted out Chris...interesting stuff.

Don't think I can start collecting anything else apart from HW Subbuteo...not enough room I'm afraid.

Re: 4-2-4 loose players

In all my years of collecting Subbuteo I've never come across these, only seen them online.

Do people collect them Chris?

Re: Can't get my head round this...

Think it's been suggested before that some collectors don't worry about who's painted the teams, as long as they cover the ref's in their collection...all very strange imo. The Catalogue is common Gully...came in most French Display Editions...plenty of them about if you know where to look. Probably...

Can't get my head round this...

....advertised as 'Customised'....in other words, overpainted teams. Yet making silly money for what it is...

Re: OSC OS (Old Subbuteo Club Old Sods)

The throw in figures and Corner Kickers are actually superb. They actually work. And with very little practice you can get the ball to go to the player you are aiming for. Great fun to use...it actually feels more normal to use them now...and more realistic to football. Seeing the ball go into a cro...

Re: display

Lots of it doesn't ring true Ralph imo. So many things just don't add up. I've seen pics from the Tournament in 1970 at the Savoy...SSG spent money on presentation as well as scoreboard. None of it looked as shabby as the ones advertised. Especially when the descriptions in the adverts also don't ma...

Re: display

Hey Paul...hope you are good bud... Maybe they did have them made Paul, I'll bow to your better knowledge on such things...however... I honestly don't think these examples are the real deal. So many things standing out as wrong on all of them. Take the 1968 display as an example. It's obviously a C...

Re: display

Am I the only one that thinks these are fakes? Too many things don't ring true. World Cup box just cut up and stuck together. Modern different green sheet stuck on. Morocco player apparently cleaned up from ink...yet shows a completely different figure. Say's only one produced because of cost...yet ...
