Re: Subbuteoworld collectors fair October 15th....

An enjoyable morning. Nice to say hello to a couple of old friends and chat with some new. Lots of bargains and a variety to suit all tastes. Well done to the organisers and all the sellers and buyers who supported this event. I look forward to next time, saying hello and picking up and a few more b...

Re: Some Original Defence Rules

I played last weekend mainly using "flats". This was the 1st TSPA event of the year played in Wickford, Essex. The playing surface was "Swiss " pitch, which is Snooker/billiard cloth, not dissimilar to "Baize". I played the first 2 games with the slidey bases and switched to the "flats for the remai...

Re: Subbuteoworld collectors fair October 15th....

If there's any sellers that have any "flats" or bases, let me know. Always on the lookout to enhancing my small collection :)

Re: ANTICIPATION IS KILLING ME....

When I brought a team back in the day (mid-late 70's), I would look in every team box in the shop. It wasn't so much about the team, more so about the colours and base combination. But most of all the paint job. There was some shocking painters out there, If I had a quid and the paint job was half d...

Re: Retro, Old School Subbuteo event-tournament

This thread was an offer to see if Subbuteo players first of all would like a tournament or event, and what kind of event they would like. It was also to see if there was enough interest around to run a tournament keeping costs to a minimum. If at this time interest isn't enough to go ahead i'll put...

Re: Retro, Old School Subbuteo event-tournament

A summer tournament is indeed a possibility Ralph, as is one in the Spring. Really need to see how much interest there is in this initiative.
Thanks for your interest and input.

Re: Retro, Old School Subbuteo event-tournament

The bottom line is to get like minded people together and play competitively, friendly and fairly. Enjoy the game and sportsmanship, say hello to a few familiar faces and make new aquaintances. The date can be arranged, probably in the new year. What would suit players to avoid clashes with other ev...

Retro, Old School Subbuteo event-tournament

Over the last few months i have noticed a real decline in activity for clubs and tournaments of "Old Subbuteo" in England. I have a venue, 6 top quality board mounted baized cloth pitches on offer for all to play. The venue is large enough for players and seller alike. I could set-up a refereed 10 m...

Re: Subbuteo books

I got my copy signed by Terry at the Cornwall Open a few years ago. He was Shedbuilder and his close mate Mr Donnavon-Rosa (sorry can't remember first name) was Flymo (or was it the other way round :-\ ) The front cover shows heavyweight style players but off course the hero is a flats player. Maybe...
