Re: Restoration and fixing up projects

Next up is a HW17, that had been painted over with gloss and had numbers glued onto the back. I've already got a good condition HW17 in my collection, so I removed the glue from the backs, stripped it down and repainted as a HW87 - replacing the keeper and box

Re: Stadium update

The new playing surface looks good, as does the new roof but the ground has lost a little something at the end behind the goal eh? I like Metcalfe kits too... but cutting the windows I can do without :-) Yeah, shame to lose the terrace, but it was either that, or lose one of the railway lines. Hope...

Re: Stadium update

Extending the playing surface was not without problems and as well as trimming down the Astropitch, I had to drastically reduce capacity behind one of the goals. Next up, I'll be 'weathering' the ground and painting up some spectators.

Here are some pics...

Re: Restoration and fixing up projects

I won this on Ebay for about £6.00. Players and box are fine... just the numbers on the back that was the problem.

I carefully scalpelled most of it off, then gently rubbed the remaining bits off with nail polish remover and a cotton wool bud.

Took a bit of time but well worth it.

Re: Restoration and fixing up projects

Great stuff Steve . keep em coming. Lovely Darlo but I also quite liked it as Liverpool 2nd as well. Yeah, nice colour combo the old Liverpool 2nd kit. I'd have kept it only the paint was a bit too slapped on in places - Kent housewife on valium style ;-) Next up is the Ref 159 (almost done) and th...

Re: Restoration and fixing up projects

Cheers Mark, Just an easier way of getting some of those rarer refs I’m never going to find without be paying £££’s for. Just painting for my own collection these days and at my own pace. Really enjoying the smell of Humbrol again 8) Currently removing numbers from the back of a HW 159. Slow process...
