Been a while

Post by duncthehat » 06 Nov 2019, 09:04

Hi guys. Been quite a while since i have been here. Have had a busy year with little time for hobbies and my subbuteo collecting has lapsed. It seems this forum is really quiet these days and that subbuteo collecting is dropping off big time. I guess we are watching our collections devalue by the day, something I dont particularly care about as they were never an investment.

Not really followed the lightweight scene but to me looking on ebay even that seems to have dropped off

I guess the good thing is that the cost of further purchases should be cheaper though I personally am not experiencing this

What are other peoples impressions

I think prices are holding up for rare or mint HW items, but dropping fast for run of the mill, poorer condition stuff

The Subbuteo groups on Facebook are much more active than this forum now and there are a lot of new collectors avidly building their collections, so the rarer teams can still fetch good prices but common teams don't go for much. I took quite a few common CHW teams to Renishaw earlier this year but I would have had to practically give them away to get rid of them, so returned home with most of them!

Unfortunately, the new influx of collectors has meant that the serial repainters are having a field day churning out their stuff to meet the new demand and sadly, are managing to sell stuff at high prices - just look at the stuff on ebay from Saltburn that finishes tomorrow!

Agree re prices .
Mind you £10.50 for a decent ref 22 was very disappointing.
Sometimes eBay surprises though - £30 for a 28 and £27 for. Ref 77 notable last week
