Scratch build Subbuteo

Post by Number9 » 01 Jan 2013, 13:07

Ref 47 all built from raw materials (including the bases).

Turned house into a plastics factory over the Christmas break (many thanks to very long suffering partner!). Bases actually play pretty well.

Still lots of experimenting to do though!

I think I may collect these

I like them!!
It all seems very easy, this revolution game
But when you start to really play things won't be quite the same
Your intellectual theories on how it's going to be
Don't seem to take into account the true reality

Thanks guys,

Only recently got the bug for playing with flats - but getting teams and bases was proving difficult (expensive!!!). I actually tried a few moulding companies for making bases, 2 turned me down, 3 didnt reply and one gave me a quote of 3-4k for tooling and 40p per base on top of that

So I started messing about. Still far from perfect, but they play a reasonable game (at my basic level anyway)

good luck to you
moulding companies are a commercial concern so you must expect high costs for mould tooling set up
Bases look good to me no.9

Youre right about the moulding companies - I just wasnt going to produce enough volume to make it viable - I'm actually enjoying myself so I'm pleased Plan A didnt work out TBH, even though the house sometimes smells a bit like ICI at Runcorn on a bad day :D

Thanks for all your kind comments. There will be a few more teams in my 'collection' soon

My first target is to do an interpretation (not replicas by any means) of Refs 1-50 - should be finished sometime in April! :D

In the meantime I have put a video up on You Tube to show they actually work:

No comments about rubbish technique please :-\
