Thanks to Chris Smith (The Boss)

Postby Focus On » 17 Jul 2015, 06:42

Thanks for taking the trouble to update the forums software mate.
Got my head round it now lol
Chris and i have been friends since time began it seems almost.
Let me make one thing crystal clear, we need him a lot more than he needs us, so a flurry of 'thankyous' wouldn't go a miss.
Chris makes fu-ck all out of maintaining this site for us and behind the scenes its been a bit tricky from time to time for him to even do just that.

Without this forum we'd be bolloxed so think on and get your subs in people.

Finally, Chris, thankyou from me, you ARE a legend, always helped me out in the past and a gen proper fella. :awe:

I agree 100%, Mark. How much can we contribute in the way of subs?
How about them transparent dangling carrots
How about that ever elusive kudo

It would also be nice to show our appreciation by making a donation towards the server costs, as per Chris's post.

I am a creature of habit so I don't always take to changes very easily. I do appreciate this forum as I have met a few people on here and managed to play in tournaments etc. Also I have gained a lot of knowledge from this forum. So I am eternally grateful to all that have assisted in this, however I suppose that I will have to get used to the blandness of the new forum. So thanks to Chris Smith for giving us this forum and letting us Subbuteo Heads have a medium to express our love for the beautiful game. I feel that he should have gauged some feedback or had a consultation period with subscribers for example to gauge opinions of what people wanted to see and keep. :black:

I echo everything that has been said. The forum has been a great source of information and inspiration. A big thanks to Chris who probably through running this forum has done more to promote the game than anybody. Also a big thanks to all the regular contributors willing to pass on their knowledge to others.

Yes indeed, thanks to Chris, Mahler et al for your ongoing efforts. Ive been a regular here ( under different aliases ) since I joined about 5 years ago. Ive always loved this site. On it a few times a day in truth. I met a lot of good people here, played in Tournaments cos of here. Made some new friends too ! No females tho...LOL. Anyway, keep up the good work and subs on the way from me too shortly, when I find me card.

Spot on with your post Mark. Lots of respect to Chris for what Flickman very aptly calls 'a labour of love'. :awe:

It was brought into sharp focus for me on the day the changeover happened. For a brief moment (but it seemed like an age) I kept getting a message that said 'this site is currently unavailable' and I thought: 'Feck!! How am I gonna keep in touch with everyone?!'

It's not like we've all met each other and know everyone's contact details, and boy was I relieved when it reappeared, albeit looking a bit slicker and, well...blue.

I will click the link and pay some dosh, I think.

Continuing on in the same vein as above. How much are we supposed to donate ? If memory serves it was a flat fee of £15 last year which I paid. Can you now donate less or more and still get yer subs badge ? Any guidance on that admin ? Cheers. P.
