Floodlights

Post by geow6 » 06 Dec 2015, 12:52

What is everyone's opinions on floodlights available either on eBay or other sources?

I had some old Greek pillar ones but the beam was terrible, even after I had them 'upgraded' by a reliable chap on eBay.

I've bought 8 of the tipp-kick ones from subbuteoworld and the beam is great, but they don't fit in th corner of my stadium. Any ideas if there's any good, fully working ones around?

I think the best ones are usually home-made either on "pylons" or as LED strips under the stand rooves.

I have been looking into this, using battery powered LED's is a pain, I am looking to modify the subbuteo pylons to take led's fed from a transformer. thing is a subbuteo pitch is a large area and leds' dont give enough throw to the centre of the pitch. reckon a minimum of 3 pylons each side could do it. you need the height to get the throw ans spread of light

just thinking would 4 or 6 of these give a decent spread, okay 240v and not the most attractive looking, you would need a substantial (by subby standards) pylon of metal to hold them. going by scale 10mm dia steel or copper pipe would do onto a half brick base to stop them toppling over, you could run the cable down the outside of the pipe and paint it and it would look okay. 4 of them would give a good light level and being led's they dont give off much heat unlike halogen fittings

These plug in led lights from IKEA throw out a good light, just a little shaded around the pitch edges.
