Teams in your collection

Post by Flash » 29 Dec 2016, 12:44

Bought a new shelving unit to house my growing collection, and made me wonder how many teams some of you have in your collections!

I have a modest 112 - split between the new PLG/Netcam stuff and La Leggenda.

My aim is to collect all official Subbuteo branded teams post-2000 - possibly even dating back to the 90s as I quite like the Hasbro ones from that era.

763 teams for me in total (OHW and HW lots of duplicates) all housed in 3 office cabinets (4th one on its way) all with locks on them & all insured on their own insurance policy.
All Catalogued in Excel by Collection number, reference number and details of purchase date, cost, story behind the team etc....Sad I Know but I enjoy it. :lol!:

I do wish I'd kept a note of date purchased. Sadly the PLG collections have no sensible reference numbers (or none at all in some cases :(). At least with La Leggenda there is a sure fire list of the 150!

I'll try and post some pics of mine. I do have them dotted around my loft on display, but that can only hold so many. I've just put a new shelf up for the Leggenda ones. What also annoys me about the PLG/Netcam ones is there no indication on the side or bottom as to what team it is, which means they all look the same :(

Personal plan is to have one odd/rare kit example of each team from each European and then worldwide league (all researchable divisions) from the 1970s on repro equipment
Original stuff SSG i'm slowly selling because the kits aren't quite right

tbh not sure what this number will come to but its gotta be in the 2000's- 3000's
I have around 400 teams that were participating in the Italian league system alone, from AC Formigine to AC Milan ect
prob not marketable but will certainly be non SSG kits and teams, and unique
Seravezza 1976 anyone?
Some of these minor league kits are too nice NOT to paint up

The kits of the lower league European clubs from the 70's are out of this world, I love some of the minor Spanish teams of that era, some beauties there.
In the modern era check out the Brazilian Leagues some wild ones there

I am strictly a classic heavyweight kind of guy. Any LW's or Zombies that cross my path are usually sold on quickly. I dont have any OHW sets either.

Never had any of the later (90's onwards) stuff.

In terms of teams i have about 550 original subbuteo teams of which about 250 are (decent) repaints (many done by me)

I have another 300 or so Top Spin/Santiago teams. A mixture of my own creations and those bought in from the likes of Focus , Mark Parker, Llyodie Wrightenburg & Spudski etc

Over 50 original Rugby teams as well.

15-20 Box sets of Football Rugby and Cricket.

A full Stadium and loads of accessories.

Now i would love to have it all on display but sadly i have to keep most of it boxed up in the loft. :(

I've got around 400 LW teams housed in two IKEA Billy bookcases with half glass doors. Posted a picture on the forum a whil back.

Love this thread...and agree with Mark and Lloydie, some cracking team kits out there, especially in some of the minor and more obscure leagues. The one Mark posted up reminded me of this Mexican side from 1973...try those socks and collars for size ;-)

I hear you speedwaymad hahahaha
73 teams (Celluloids, cardbards, OHW, HW, LW) plus accessories. All with silica gel little bags and bubble wrapped and stored really carefully.
Of course photographed and fully catalogued in Excel by ref, base combo, previous owner(s), purchase date, cost, special details (unlisted, rare edition etc) The works! hahaha
Many of them found new homes and more will be flying across the globe pretty soon.

Are you crazy ?
Italian minor leagues during the 70ies ? You can't imagine how many different kits were present at that time !!!
When I played football from 74 to 80 (I was so scarce that later I prefered to study) I remember that me and a couple of friend in my team imagined what kind of shirt would have been worn by our opposing the next Sunday.
At that time in Italy we hadn't the cult for the major teams replica shirts. On the contrary every team wanted its unique kits to distinguish oneself to the others !
My team played in blu shirt with two vertical claret/gold lines on the right (like the AS Roma colour), black shorts and blue socks . The away kit was simple and bizarre at the same time : dark green shirt, black shorts, blue socks !
I must find some photos for you Mark...

I haven't counted them all lately - have accumulated a lot more in 2016, so am probably approaching 150 HWs plus a few Santiago self-paints.
