celtic 2nd ref 362 query
Gents - - I have a possible deal in the making but the seller asking for top dollar and it's mainly LW. He has a Celtic 2nd ref 342 which he tells me is rare and wants £100 for this alone. Anyone have a rough idea what it's worth given the way prices fluctuate these days.

Re: celtic 2nd ref 362 query
Very rare probably worth more. Don't be tight and do the deal.
Re: celtic 2nd ref 362 query
No team however rare is worth £100 imo....reckon he's seeing you coming!

Re: celtic 2nd ref 362 query
I always try to remember that they're just little plastic men regardless of the different colour paint on them.
The most I've ever paid for a team was £20 for a Ref 85 heavyweight & the bloke almost had to wrench my fingers apart to make me let go of the note.

In principle you are of course correct...they are just bits of painted plastic.
However...they are collectible, and like anything that is collectible...Artwork, old cars, stamps, ephemera etc, etc, you could say the same about that.
Bits of paint on some canvas, bit of metal with wheels, bit of paper with writing on.
Subbuteo is iconic, collectible, not sold in shops anymore, and depending on condition and rarity, will command different prices if people want it enough.
Like any collectible, if you want it enough and can afford it, why not? I'd rather spend money on Subbuteo than buy say £60 for an Arsenal ticket for 90 mins, or £10 on a packet of cigs.
I save money instead of spending it on such items, and when something nice comes along that I want for my collection, I can afford it.
£600 the most I've spent on a team...mad some will say, but it gave me far more enjoyment having and owning it, than the equivalent in cigs for example. Each to their own of course
Keeps me out of trouble

Thanks for the comments gents.
Re: celtic 2nd ref 362 query
just as a reference Mingardo on his site rates it as a 6.
1 is common, 2 is less common, 3 is rare, 4 is more rare, 5 is very rare, and 6 is forget it. £100 if it genuine and in good condition is probably a bargain.

£240 didn't meet reserve. I think that's a good price as previous one sold on eBay was bought by blubaz who always goes OTT.
Re: celtic 2nd ref 362 query
I posted a photo of my Celtic 2nd on here once and was offered £300 by PM a few hours later. I probably should have sold it TBH...
