Old Subbuteo computer disk

Post by sportpsych » 08 Nov 2017, 08:54

Just came across this - wondering when it was released?

The idea of Subbuteo as a computer game just seems quite bizarre
Anyone ever played it?

I own the Amiga version and I remember it playing it once or twice when I was a teenager. From my point of view it‘s virtually unplayable. It‘s about finding the correct angles and the point at which you hit the playing figure and the strenght of the hit are decided by a good timed left click on the computer mouse when a needle swipes over a bar from left to right and back. If Subbuteo proper needs some practice to get a feel how to strike the playing figures and how much strength to apply, this PC game is far worse. Besides the graphics are awful compared to other football games on pc even at the time.

Despite being crap I remember that you were able to scroll through all team colours available in a nicely depiction of the typical 90‘s team box (with the polystyrene inner).

There‘s also a small booklet with reference to the real game and facts like a full Subbuteo stadium contains 6000 supporter figures.

Overall a waste of money.

I had it as a youngster. Near unplayable game. Weirdly was contacted in the late 90s by a software developer who said Hasbro had tasked them with remaking it - assume nothing came of it though, didn't hear from them again afterwards
