Absolute madness. My car will get me to Scotland and back and is worth £200. The scalextric car will never be used as the new owner will be too scared to put it on the track and hence will sit in it's box for another 30 years. Be it scalextric or subbuteo these items were made to be played with and not just put in a display cabinet to be admired by someone with more money than sense.

I bought a replica and I'm quite happy with that, think it was less than £70. Having said that, if you have the money to spare and it means that much to own something why not.

Same i bought a replica Bugatti and its identical, bought the blue, the red, the yellow...all around £40
Did change the engines and braids back to RX and silver braids ala originals, repro boxes finish them off.

A bloke in spain has recently done a run off the original mould with all the Scalex stamping at the bottom and an expert told me its VERY difficult to spot the orig out of the two, all the parts have been aged ect

Funnily I came across this one whilst hunting for Subbuteo. A Spanish run of 300. Nice looking car.

That's a Pink-Kar re mould mate, the colour shade is WAY off an original, purposely...but they've put in an 1960 Scalex RX motor and the box is repro
but the WRONG repro for that car, it came in a FJ Box and only one is known to exist

The Spanish guy i referred to is a lone shark, VERY good at forgeries, his Bugatti is a diff blue

app Phil S went to a swapmeet in Barcelona and even he couldn't tell, in his hand, and Phils no mug

To show how close Pink Kar got to the original (Remember they used the original 1963 Scalextric moulds)...here's the ultra rare red one (£15,000) and the PK version (£40-80)...pretty close eh?....size is obv identical and trust me the two reds are spot on, don't look it here in the pics but they are.

Blimey...it's a minefield out there Mark...just like Subbuteo and most other collectibles now.

A good reminder to everyone when collecting, to do your research first, and get knowledge before purchasing anything expensive.

Deffo mate
Funny story time, when PK first released the Red one a famous collector went out and bought every single one he could lay his hands on expecting it to be worth a fortune like the original one day, as close as original as it was ect...
Anyway what he spent (around £15,000 kid you not he had around 500 of them mint boxed ALL red ffs) he could have bought an original.
Also the value of them did go up over the last ten years but only double so he could double his money BUT he's app stuck with them putting them out on the drip as to not flood the market and 'de-value' them more at 40-50 to regain his outlay....plans of mice and men eh

I spent £16,000 in one hit on a collection around 2000-2001 but it was worth three times that, and i DID sell it on

Blimey...very calculated Mark.

I find the joy is in the hunting these days. Wish I had the room to display my collection. One day...

Made sure the money changed hands in the kitchen, lots of knives there pmsl
ever seen 45 grand on a table?...it fills it i ain't kidding :| all in shoe boxes like a drug deal
