CELLULOID TEAMS

Post by Gullseye » 08 Feb 2018, 16:22

Any ideas as to why there are so few flats for sale on eBay these days ? I've only taken more interest in these recently, but I'm sure there was a plentiful supply of these a few years ago.

I think the government should put an export ban on them.

If you want teams rather than bases the forum sponsor has them at giveaway prices at the moment . eBay has never been a good source of decent celly teams in bases plenty of over priced badly glued broken rubbish but not much else just the usual 25/32/40/43/49/ sets a few years ago all bagged but no bases left over from SSG stock .

In our day though it was all about the HW's or the continentals as we used to call them then. A school friend of mine did have a celly Newcastle that he always used, which was the only one I had seen at the time. I've been thinking about collecting some for a while as I love the look of them and they are great for curling.

As Subbuteoworld had a sale on I took advantage of buying up a few, unfortunately they do not have a stock of bases. Would love to get some more teams but sourcing the bases is difficult.

I agree, regarding the Continental sets. By the early sixties the celluloid teams were either considered a thing of the past, or were simply not 'pushed' by the stores. Everyone had the 'new' players.

There are certainly some very nice teams in your collection. Are you planning to play them in any of your solo league games?

I may set up a separate solo league for the teams, which will be useful in getting some practice in. They are quite pleasing to flick around and you seem to be able to play at a faster pace.
