Thing is if you play on a pitch with any kind of fence or sides to it you should be okay really .. carpets are okay .. the problems start when you get to a tournament or a club night somewhere and you are playing on a pitch with no surround above a hard floor ... can be very off-putting, myself and Ian played at Wigan for a season and after about three trips I switched to heavys as I found that I was spending every game watching for stray figures

I don't risk my original HWs these days. The plastic is getting very brittle.

If I play with HWs, I use modern repros and keep my anxiety levels down.

When you're playing a game of subby with celluloids, which type of goalkeeper do you use ?? The celly goalie doesn't look as if he'd last two minutes.
So, do you use the plastic hw 1970's goalie (with celly outfield players) or is that not allowed ??

Celly goalies are pretty much unbreakable to be honest

They're very springy. A pin behind the keeper will improve the game and prevent the ball sailing over the opposite goal line everytime the keeper makes a save.

Maybe Pat Jennings was having a game of "celluloid subby", minus the pin behind the goalie; scored a goal after a shot rebounded off his own goalkeeper and thought, "I can replicate that in the forthcoming Charity Shield (it's July, 1967) against Manchester United". :D

Lee Idzi did that for Caerfyrddin against Aberystwyth recently.

Thanks Vik. I'm loving these flats now, very attractive to look at and also fun to play with.
