Rare Black Shorts 28 or Repaint?
Rare Black Shorts 28 or Repaint?
Just spotted this and taken a punt on a BIN on eBay, I know there was a black shorts version but in the OHW figure so given this wasn't too much, took a punt. I looked in the ref section and couldn't see anything to match? Bad photo and will post a better one when it arrives.
Thoughts (I know it's a part team but I am only after 1 of each ref / variation)

Do you regret selling your collection, Adrian, 'cos it looks to me like you've got the Subbuteo bug again.
Carpet football sucks.

According to historical kits, Norwich played in black shorts, 69-70 season; so, it could be.

Looking forward to the pics when they arrive, Adrian.

I do and I don't mate, I regret losing such a good collection but, it had got a bit too much and the wife wasn't happy with the space it took up and it funded home improvements. By trying to collect one of each classic HW ref / variant I can still scratch the itch, enjoy the thrill of the find and keep the wife happy lol

Haha, I see.
I had a load of SNES games, all boxed in excellent condition. Got rid of them, a number of years ago, in order to fund a new console. Then, 12 months later began to regret selling them. Hard to find them now and when they do turn up they're expensive.
I keep thinking about doing what you're doing, but with the Santiago figures. I'll get around to it one day.

Re: Rare Black Shorts 28 or Repaint?
Couple of points
The OHW and the actual kits didn't have White socks
When Norwich briefly went back to Black shorts SSG listed them as ref 6 for a while (although SSG being SSG
did this after Norwich had gone back to Green)
Previous examples seen have had Yellow socks with Green tops like the OHW ...one pic on here Terry had a couple of spares

Re: Rare Black Shorts 28 or Repaint?
nice ...I prefer the Black shorts myself
Re: Rare Black Shorts 28 or Repaint?
And so the results are in and the verdict is....... just a 28 with repainted green shorts
At first I was a little excited as the black on the front looked old, worn and genuine but, when I turned the players over you can see the green beneath the black particularly players 5 and 11.
Still worth a punt but some you win and some you lose. I think it looks great as a kit though

7 players. Keep 'em, Adrian. You're bound to come across 3 more with green outer, yellow inner. Then, when you do, paint 'em up. Many reference numbers on that base combo. Stick 'em in a repro box.
Be careful though. You might just end up stimulating that collecting gene a bit more, buying a few genuine common heavies and.......off you go. Down the "collecting HW teams" route again. The Subbuteo bug never leaves. It lies dormant for a while, but it always comes back.
