Prices for LW going through the roof

Post by HPL17 » 29 May 2018, 12:18

https://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/SUBBUTEO-L ... 1438.l2649

Prices the last weeks on ebay for less common LW teams are exploding. Yesterday several teams went for around 100 EUR per team and it doesn't stop. Some new collectors that have stepped in?

I've been trying to expand my LW collection the past few months but it's not easy in the current market.

I bought:

- 492 Bayer Leverkusen for 66 EUR
- 497 Leicester City for 53 EUR
- 514 Coventry for 30,50 EUR
- 790 Bordeaux for 75 EUR and
- 814 Blackburn 2nd for 30,50 EUR

Happy to hear the views of other LW collectors and what they think are fair prices. Personally I would never pay more than 100 EUR for a team.

Hi,

Don’t know about others but it’s an interesting time for me....as a kid I only knew lw’s And built up my collection.
Having got the bug back years later I’m now fascinated by hw’s. Figure it’s a good time to be buying hw’s As prices drop and sell lw’s as prices rise?

Cheers, G.

That team has hand painted black stripes but the shorts and socks are printed, clearly a MODIFIED TEAM WITHOUT DOUBT

The irony of it, is that those Match Weekly teams were very limited edition, so a mega rare team ruined

That Ref. 362 may hit the GBP500 mark. It could well exceed it because it's quite rare to get the box and team in such good condition.

I have some concern whether the bidding process is fair, in general. I don't understand why you would bid days ahead and not just step in at the last minute. I think you would only start bidding early to drive up the price? Off course some teams are more rare and thus more valuable but bidding such high amounts well before the auction expires seems very strange to me.

It looks like the one I sold last year (went to Italy). I haven't paid much attention to the one on ebay so cant say whether it was the team I sold or just another one the same.

It's different, Ian. The label's position on the respective boxes are not the same.
