Hi all,

Thanks for adding me.

Call it a (late) mid life crisis but I never forgot the Christmas I got subbuteo as a kid (I’ve still got most of it) and I’m now looking to collect the teams/stadium I couldn’t have when young. I’ve already picked up loads of tips reading the forums, I’m sure loads more to get to grips with.

Welcome to the forum, BlueRobbo.

Just wondering which Subby era are you looking to collect; heavies, lights, etc ??
Carpet football sucks.

The first few things I’ve bought was some of the newer stuff (Paul lamond, zeugo etc) just to see the differences.

Having looked around at what’s availalable (and affordable - some of the prices sets fetch 😳) and looked at what I had from a child I think I’m leaning towards collecting early 80s lightweights, particularly the landscape packaging sets. They are the ones I liked when I was young.

When I get some space in the house (the loft is an ongoing project) then i’ll look at building that stadium I always wanted.

Thank you for adding me to the forum. Like many others I played subbuteo as a kid in the 70s. Unfortunately I dont have the teams etc anymore. Been looking through the forum posts with a view to possibly start collecting HW teams, at least those I had as a kid. Lots on ebay and some at quite extraordinary prices. However this looks like a minefield as many look repainted. I also collect signed football memorabilia via another forum and they have a list of trusted ebay sellers. Does such a list exist for subbuteo collecting. Thanks

Good evening ladies and gents.
Thank you for allowing me to join the forum.
I am 37 years old and an Everton fan living in Lancashire.
I used to have a club edition set in the late 80's early 90's I think it had Leeds and Sampdoria on the box and various teams.
Really want to start collecting lightweights from that era to start with.

Welcome to the Forum, Cam.

Hope you find information about the lightweights, as well as some teams you're looking for, and also, possibly, some good reads about the Subbuteo scene, past and present.

Perhaps I could suggest, as a start, the SubbuteoWorld website, if you're not already familiar with it, where you will find a selection of what is available, not that I consider myself to be a collector. Others will have better ideas.

Enjoy your return to the game.

Hi All,

Thanks for letting me join the forum.

I haven't played the game now for a long while, but I've always kept an eye on what's been going on over the years.

First started playing with the 00 continental teams back in the late sixties, with friends.

But then joined the ETSA and played in the National League using flats. I was never that brilliant but I got to travel to a few places to play the matches, which was fun!

Years ago I tried to get my son interested, but he always went back to his PlayStation and FIFA!

My 15 year old grandson has never played it so I'm thinking of maybe trying to get him to have a game!

I'll have to get up in the loft and dig all the Subbuteo stuff out.

I'll let you know how I get on!

Cheers

Rob.
