Jenksys first game of the season

Post by jenksy » 15 Oct 2015, 18:37

Just seeing if I can do a post with a picture. I'm not that tech savvy! Vanguard Rovers ready to kick off their first game of the new season at home to Glenfield. After going a goal down early on Rovers equalised before half time before going on to win 3-1. A good start to the season at The Lynny Lane ground!

Ha ha! Now there's a thought. Baby Jenksy has just abandoned her Mummy and Daddy to move in with her boyfriend (wouldn't have happened in my day). The by product of that is I now have a Subbuteo room! "Oh no it's not" says Mrs Jenksy. She won't let me leave my Wargames table, football table or train set out all the time! Oh no I have to put it away when I have finished playing. I've been busy making other stands, terracing and barriers in blue and red so I can give each team its own ground! All very simple affairs along with a couple of Zeugo stands. I'll try and put a few more on here at some point!

Excellent, I like the idea of changing the barriers to create a new ground each time.

Women, they just don't understand ....

Fascinating to discover how folk originally found names for their teams. Mine came from comics; Melchester Rovers, Pressley Rangers, Blackton Rovers, Hinton United and so on. (I named my league the Brookfield League as I used to live in Brookfield Avenue.)

If the MoTD cameras turned up to any of my games these days, they would probably interpret the word "comic" rather differently.
