Ok.

THis next one is a bit of a departure for me. I dont do badges or logos..........cos I cant tbh.

But I did a Tampa Bay Rowdies 2nd kit from the 1970's (Rodney Marsh era). On the original strip 'Rowdies' is emblazoned across the chest. No way am i able to paint letters that small but the strip just didnt look right with a plain jersey. So I bit the bullet and, following Ian's (Spudski) advice that a suggestion of a logo an be effective that he gave me on the forum a while back, gave it a go.

So here it is Tampa Bay Rowdies 2nd kit

oh Rodney Rodney.
Rodney, Rodney, Rodney, Rodney....Rodney Marsh!

Shame SSG never did Elche, would have preferred it over a lesser attractive kit like Preston NE

That Hull is nice i had a stab at that myself before, and yours is perfect
not wanting to crash the thread (others may think different but F em) but here's mine on reverse bases to yours.

Cheers Mark my friend.

I sometimes wonder what criteria was used when SSG introduced new references to the range. Like you say there were a few teams you thought would make the list that didnt. And there a many teams in the range that seem a bit odd as most football fans would not have heard of a lot of them. But i suppose part of the attraction (for me anyway) was the fact you could get all these different exotic kits.

And was it really necessary to have 119 and 136 and 235 and 252 which are all very similar ie blue shirts, white shorts white socks?

Yeh as i say quite happy with the Hull colours. It's amazing how a base combo makes such a difference to the look of a team. Your Hull is lovely but looks really different to mine.

Variations on a theme mate, no rights or wrongs
Base combos do make a difference but its all suggestion...the eye juggles everything

keep up the painting i'm sick of it tbh and have had a year off

I can understand that Mark. You do a lot of painting as a business.

I have done quite a few teams recently as I am still off work so have had the time. When i go back to work in a month or so my painting will drop off.

But even doing just a few teams a week can get tiresome and i get tired of it as well. Havnt painted anything new for a week myself. Even at my level i need a break from it. Cant imagine doing the volumes you and Paul (Lloydie) could get through. Would drive me nuts I think.

Its keeping a balance ..keeping the enjoyment before it becomes a chore.

I still like it though and get enjoyment from the end results. Still got a few teams on the to do list.

The only thing I wish I could do is a basic template for my boxes. I have bought boxes off professionals that are top notch but can work out as exspensive as the teams they hold.

Re templates, mine are pretty basic as i wanted the 70's look
I did them in a programme called Photostudio5 which is prob outdated now
You'll find that after a while you want to alter the design a little, tweek it here and there

I just wanted something that would show the team i was painting, badge of the period, and ground shot (something of the period of the team or earlier)
I used Photoimpression 4 for merging graphics with typeface, its a nightmare system till you get used to it
Theres certainly upgraded versions of both online for download mate

I shall have a look at them Mark thanks. Though I am usually pretty crap at techy stuff like that.

I have scanned a box onto my mac so i shall play about with it. Tbh all i would want is to edit the splash figure on the lid to match the colours of the team and put a team name and maybe a badge on the end. Not even that fussed about changing the colour scheme on the box could just as well keep it green.
