Is it just me, or does that green and silver look too good as a base combo?
Anyway, stunning job done.
Not looking for that damned 21 anymore

The silver is an exclusive colour :P I was messing with some spray paint ages back and decided on some silver metallic bases and I think it looks awesome. thanks.

I thought about that: would spraying a base actually change the colour?

I've never done bases, I would assume that if you did it right it come be done, as long as you didn't overload the paint, and obviously you'd start with white.

Thanks Rigger, it is a nice team, been on fire lately done 4 teams in 2 days and I am currently looking for what to do next...

I've done bases a few times down the years - the inners mostly, but as a kid I did outers too for a couple of players when I didn't have spares. I found the best way was to use any paint so long as it's the right shade you want, then varnish twice with a satin finish as it looks as close to the original plastic as possible.

Here's one I made earlier ! :D
This is a Roma that I converted from a battered and dirty ref.21

Yours looks way better - from that photo I'd never know you painted the silver inners without you saying, whereas you'd notice mine.

Yeah I can see what you're saying, the amount of Ref21 that have bitten the dust over the years, I've repainted 3 :O myself, I have toyed with doing some other colours, may do some over coming weeks and let you guys know. nice Roma btw Rigger, love Roma's colour scheme, it's beautiful.

Thanks, mate :D

You're right about the 21s - I've done a couple and got a couple spare just in case. The thing is, sometimes you'll see a team on eBay that looks fine, with no breaks or weak knees or anything, but there's paint or ink on the bases/backs of the players.
Repainting the bases is a way of bringing them back to life in my eyes.
They're often really cheap as well because most of us wouldn't touch 'em ...

I've turned one into a Raith, one into a Darlington and one into a Northampton, this was all way before I did painting for any other reason than because I wanted that team to play with.
