Saxon efforts

Postby Saxony » 10 Dec 2014, 09:50

My first attempt makes me appreciate just how talented many of the painters on here are and how unforgiving close-up photos are :-\

Gillingham 2014 as an xmas gift for a mate - (drunk) Kent housewife style on Zeugo. Bit of artistic licence on the proportions of the 'trim'.

like 'em both mate. very good.

What paints are you using btw?

Never used Zuegos myself but they look the biz. I personally use Santiagos and more recently Top Spins as well.

Keep painting and keep posting.

Cheers - the latest attempt is on Santiago too, prefer those myself.

Most of the paints I have are Humbrol Matt enamel, but that yellow is acrylic - colour is lighter and brighter really - the photo was taken in today's poor light. Rained all day.

An interpretation of the Barnet 2016-2017 1st kit. The stripe should be broken lines, but that's beyond me.

Very good for first attempts. Its always a shock when you take the first close ups and realise they are not as good as you thought. Like most things the more you do the better you become. Its worth painting some with a magnifier as it gives you a feel for how to control the brush to get a neater finish.

Thanks for the tip Gully. I've neatened up the wayward stripes on a couple, but most time has been spent doing Mr Bumble - one of the better mascots IMO - work in progress mind - he needs tidying up and his yellow needs re-doing, might try Insignia Yellow (Humbrol), only had Trainer Yellow to hand

I like the Barnet mate. They have a nice 'authentic' look about 'em.
