missus AND kids away eh Steve....jammy git!

ps the French infantry in WW1 initially wore a light blue tunic (& red trousers!) but after losing tens of thousands of troops in 1914 realised this probably didn't make for good camouflage! :O :O

(sorry, reflects my love of military history....all started by the likes of Battle, Warlord, Victor etc!)

Great to see Steve! Just goes to show what can be achieved when the missus is away! :lol!:

750 fans eh?...is there a pic of these altogether in a few pieces of terracing??.....is there a stadium being born here???

Hi Fingerz

My plan is to do a model stadium that's kind of inspired by the Racecourse Ground (Wrexham) circa mid 70s.

I want it to look just as good from the "outside" as the "inside" if you see what I mean, so I am planning to clad my terraces with brickwork and have turnstiles etc.

I am currently collecting old bit of terrace and whathaveyou. Seeing how its going to take me a year or so to paint 4,000 fans I'm probably going to build it on a modular basis, a stand or terrace at a time.

Hopefully I'll be able to show off the first few modules sometime this summer...

Cheers

Steve

Great to hear! I think you would get a good look with a couple of thousand spectators - it seems sometimes that the most interesting aspects of my stadium is where there are gaps between spectators...(!) 2000 would allow for many interesting clumps of spectators, sitting together ('clumpage'?)

I've also had developing some of the outside on my mind, and my brother tells me that a whole load of dolls house 'brickwork paper' has arrived at his place (where the stadium is currently being hosted).

I came across the website of a company that sells all kinds of brick and stone effect patterns on card for use in railway modelling etc. That's what I was planning to get, I don't think it costs that much per sheet

The Hornby Skaledale range seems to do all sorts of useful stuff - kiosks, phoneboxes, big skips, bollards - all useful for stadium scenes I reckon

I'd be very interested to see your outsides develop as you do them...

Cheers

I was mucking about mixing some paint this arvo, and ended up with a credible salmon pink at long last. It's taken me ages to achieve this colour to my satisfaction...

I then experimented with matching colours and found that salmon pink looks really cool alongside Navy Blue (Humbrol ref 77). I now have some nice quarters, halves and hoops etc. with this combo.

Well, it kept me amused for an hour or so anyway....

Tried some metallic colours on the sheila figure - H53 gunmetal, H54 Brass - resulted in an interesting spangly effect.

I feel a set of WAGs coming on...pics when the experiment reaches a conclusion

Also, some nice results from experiments with H70 brick red combining nicely with H110 Wood.

I reckon H70 would also go well with some of the paler blues...

so much to try, so little time...
