A good read, Ralph. Thank you for taking the trouble to produce it.

Two initial reactions: one heck of a lot of matches to get through, and you must have a fantastic collection of teams.

No problem it took me two minutes to cut and paste it - I've got 40 years of records computerised for that League

The lads who've been on the forum a while have heard all of this before so I do apologise for posting it again but - We've got 120 odd flat teams in bases I don't know exactly how many - the Leagues run in real time we calculate the majority of the results using a system a little bit similar to logacta but it's our own system using standard playing cards and not nearly as complex as the logacta cards/charts ... the idea being to play selected games with the flats along the way but if I'm too busy to physically play Subbuteo the League keeps on running ....

I think it produces realistic League tables I'll copy an example ....

How are my Blackton Albion doing this season, Ralph ?
Top five most of the season in Division Two Steve .. Currently Third behind Blackport and Melchester Rovers game 22 this Saturday so we are starting the 2nd half of the campaign ... Promoted back to Two last season reached the League Cup quarter finals this time so doing well .. Saturday 17th a full house as Melchester Rovers visit the coast
Thanks for the update Ralph. Burnley had a 4-0 home win against 4th placed Hull this week, which moved them up to 9th in Division 4 in my league. I actually played that one, scorers were Steven (2) Young and Hamilton.

That's the treble then Ralph, Brighton were promoted in my league from the Third division, after going down last season.

The Clarets and Seagulls will clash again next season, looking forward to it. We will obviously have to get used to losing again.

I've got an old Ref 8 that I overpainted with gloss black one day as a kid & I called them the Black Marauders.
At least it wasn't as stupid as when I over painted my Ref 159 & Ref 266 with a gloss blue & pink combo...

I've thought about it on and off and I did try one summer when I was a kid but other than that not really ... some of the club names are quite difficult if I followed the same theory as the other Leagues and tried to invent similar alternate names for them I don't think I could find enough that I would be happy with plus the Leagues we play already have their own well established history now which is one of the main reasons why I keep playing them every August - May ... just two Saturdays to go now for this season ... We do have a number of names for the Irish clubs as we run Euro Cups and whatnot but we would tend to just enter whoever qualifies in the real world aside from Crusaders .. I don't think we have them but I leave the Euro competitions to the boss  ... one of the biggest problems with thinking up names does of course revolve around my favourite Irish Club and I couldn't run a League without them ... although on current bloody form mmmm

It's the history now that keeps me interested I keep looking at Brechin and think I could use a better name especially as Blantyre is a sizable place in the real world but Blantyre have been in for forty one years and they have their own character so they stay .. same with Dalkeith who were originally included as an invention just to make the numbers up but I kind of think of them as a Leith/Edinburgh City/St Bernards alternative ... now the Scots have promotion and relegation to the non-league like in England my League will have more of it's own character in future as I won't relegate clubs from my League who've gone down in the real world and I probably wont include those who come up

The English divisons have gone the same way because the clubs at the bottom of our leagues rarely mirror those who've gone down from the FL to the Alliance/Conference/National League I couldn't chuck Linchester out of Division 2 for example because Lincoln had gone down

Dunno - you could always throw them out of the league for making illegal payments to players.

True though - the composition of the league is more fluid these days. It used to be major news if some poor sods didn't get re-elected.

As expected after today's AGMs which lasted a full ten seconds, or less, the Leagues will commence on August 19th with no changes to the current structure
