I just loves a good curl I do

Post by Puffin » 11 May 2011, 19:13

Played on Monday night at WRP7; 2nd session of 3 of the oldsubbuteo league. All players playing with Santiago's and playing to advanced rules.

Anyway, my second game of the night was against Alan Cook. Before the game he was saying that he's never seen anyone do a boomerang shot with HW's. Just as the second half got under way, I only went and did a boomerang shot didn't I! My player was in my own half just in the centre circle. The ball was in the shooting zone just left of the 18 yd box. 3 defenders were surrounding the ball, blocking all shots from the front. I tried my luck and gave my player a long curling flick. It wobbled all the way past the defenders and spun back towards the ball. the head of the player touched the ball leaving my man in a shooting position. I couldn't believe it! I haven't pulled off a boomerang shot in years and just when we were talking about it I managed to pull one out of the bag! Could not believe my luck!

Sorry, thought I'd just share a moment of my subbuteo playing with you

Getting a good curler is always most satisfying. Ive even managed to " curl and carry " a few times, ie curl to contact the ball then the player carrying on with the ball at his feet. Great crack.

Boomerang flicks - commonplace in the two dimensional world of flats.

I agree, its not too difficult to do with a flat but I'm rubbish at doing it with a HW; hence my surprise when I managed to do it!

Jimbo, nah mate I lost the game 1 - 0. Still I didn't really mind as for me that flick was just as good as getting a goal. I'm a sad person at times!

Discovered how to swerve with the green based, half moon bowl shaped players! And managed to do it tonight with the 2012 edition players.
