Removing the repainted layer?

Post by glenantony » 23 Sep 2012, 11:01

I've just got some players from Ebay that were heavily repainted, for me to have a go to fill some gaps for my own collection. I've stripped teams down to white or flesh, with modellers paint stripper before but amongst these teams are what I suspect to be some 78s and either some 36s or 126s, which I would like to revive as easily as possible to go with some originals I have. Does anyone have any tips for removing the top painted layers only, leaving as much of the originals as possible?

I'm not a seller so these anything I achieve won't end up being passed off as anything else!

Same process as usual.

PLUS time, care and luck - lots & lots of luck.

I have tried but the time taken and the results are not really worth making the effort. You inevitably lose most of the original paint which also makes it difficult to get a good finish.
