Ref 24 East stirling

Post by rattler » 02 Dec 2012, 17:27

Bought on ebay for £5.05 +pp
In a bit of a state but luckily the 10th player was rolling about under the inlay.
Black shorts instead of white.
Nicked a spare base off one of my spare Derby's and done a bit of scalpel work removing old glue.
Stuck a repro sticker on the box.
Never seen this style of box.
Green top, white round the sides, stapled type. Sure its quite common, I just aint seen one.
I know they're still a bit messy but six are in good nick and the other four will do.
Another HW ref ticked off the list. :)

Should have left them as they were before, they looked great...
Also I think you'll find East Stirlingshire are actually Ref 180 Warren, what you have there is Queens Park.
Don't you know anything about Subbuteo? it's getting embarrassing...

To be fair with SSG being SSG Queen's Park at no time wore Black shorts as their first choice kit

I refer you to Item 24 from Peter Uptons Subbuteo Tribute site.
Which quite clearly states

" REF #24 - Queens Park. Was also East Stirling, and Ayr early in its life.

Like ref 20, the original black shorts version was in two catalogues 1967-68 and 1968-69

Had white shorts from 1969-70 onwards.(1996)

It does not appear as frequently with black shorts as reference 20.

The Italian catalogue of 1992 still illustrates this team with a heavyweight player "
