Think it was Humbrol varnish that was worst mate.

Looks like it's run onto the peg and turned yellow also.
It is so sad, mate :cry: I love these fellas, but just got to accept this. Pity :(

Start flicking 'em mate...the yellow varnish might chip off...or try wiping with a nail varnish remover gently.

This might sound crazy but last night I entertained thoughts of stripping them :-\

I might try the nail varnish remover on the shorts and see what happens. Thank you, mate.

With regards to the inner bases, I have a whole lot of them that I plan on spray painting white. Going to give them a good wash and spray 'em white again. That should work. I will be using Tamiya white paint. I will get some done and put the results on here :)
