Is this the same yellowing as the other thread? If so does this mean Boro lads idea of using bleach will be a waste of time used on the figure? Will it work on a base??????? NO??????

Sign of times like the yellowing plastic is a nice detail on a Subbuteo team, to a certain degree.

Bought this beautiful set of Austrian Bundesliga teams from Subbuteo World some years ago. Bought brand new, and now a few years later four of the teams have yellowed terribly

What causes this? Is it the paint or varnish? It was never stored anywhere near sunlight.

You can barely see it on the Rapid Vienna, but it's there

No idea Vik, not cigarette smoke, maybe something in the plastic that biodegrades

Definitely varnish mate. You're buggered unfortunately.

Two of the teams that have predominantly white kits have been relatively untouched by the yellowing, so perhaps no varnish was used on these, Ian. The Casino Bregenz seems to have a tinge.

Some years ago on this forum or the Blue one we had discussed this and it was either the Revell or Humbrol varnish that was determined to be the culprit in some cases. Can't recall which one :?

I was also wondering about this one. God knows I have so many LW discs that I have tried everything on but nothing seems to work. Gotta bin them all or spray paint them pink for truckloads of Palermos

Think it was Humbrol varnish that was worst mate.

Looks like it's run onto the peg and turned yellow also.
