there is no "right" colour, it comes down to personal preference, everyone sees colour differently, also depends what you are trying to achieve.

to do it properly you need a good selection of each colour like 2-3 shades of red/green/blue etc etc then you can darken/lighten easily, without ending up with a mud like colour....which often happens.

Hey Ogi, looking at the chart on screen, would you go for 81 or 99 for a yellow, or does it not matter when mixing?

i don't see those colours....look here, model colour range....http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/es_ES/descargas

you could just start with the basic range, but really just go with your gut feel, and then trial and error when you get them, you'll probably end up ordering more tbh.

every monitor will show colours differently, and when you actually paint with them they will be totally different, and different again when they dry....and different again when you varnish. :Fade-color

i've got about a billion small pots of paint for all the colours i've had to match over the years. :lol!: :lol!:

I know you're right. Raring to go now. Really like the look of the AL1s, I know they're not like the classic HWs but they have a nice amount of detail on the feature imo. Trying to decide whether to do the shorts black or white. Been reading about all the 'rare' black shorts versions out there, lol. I'd be giving myself more work of course and I got myself the pre-primed ones to keep things simple. Reckon if I manage the hoops, I'll go for black shorts and if they stress me out too much, I'll stick to white!

Alternatively you could try the Games Workshop paints which are acrylics

Hi Puffin,

Thanks - yes, I've read that they're good but again as there's no Games Workshop / Warhammer near me, I'd be ordering online and guessing at the right shades to buy. I will have a look at their range next time I'm in the city though.

Regards,
Jags
