True but my point was about FISTF .. the ETF and OS are of little importance to the majority and never have been again I'd venture most people have never heard of either.

I'd imagine that the majority play a hybrid mix of basic/advanced/house rules, certainly most people I've come across.

Interesting debate gents.

If you put a "table soccer" game out and asked people what it was, the chances are the majority would call it "Subbuteo" - regardless of what rules, figures etc were played. So if the Subbuteo brand is the strength, why not use it?

I hate the word soccer anyway - so why try and use it?! It's football. Table football, IMO, means things like bar-table football, not Subbuteo!

People use soccer to define association football as opposed to other forms of football ... I don't myself to me it's just football.

The FISTF crowd pick up and put down "Subbuteo" when it suits them ...

Subbuteo is the proverbial can of worms, unless there is a National Survey, we can only guess the exact numbers of people playing in whatever form.
One fact I do know is that there are far more people who play FISTF rules than enter events, the same can be said of other rules.

We'll agree to differ on that one then ;)

Now I'm off on holiday for a couple of weeks cheery bye :)

we play old rules small ball trad figures and will carry on doin so.would like the association to thrive but either way we will carry on regardless like ralph I suspect many do the same although it cant be proved as the only clubs I know of are fistf and they are relatively few .
