Re: OSC OS (Old Subbuteo Club Old Sods)
Excellent pics, looks like fun was had by all which is the most important thing!
I haven’t played old style for a while, pity as it’s definitely more enjoyable than the slidey version.

It'll be great to see you again Ralph, hopefully you can make it down. Will try to pick a Saturday when Burnley aren't playing!

OSC OS (Old Subbuteo Club Old Sods)
Session 3
Date: 17 March 2018
Venue: Puffin’s House
Attendees:
Spudski
ZuluBlue
JohnClu48
Puffin
Pitch
1 x indoor pitch (Standard Subbuteo baize, metal goals)
Rules: Advanced
Equipment used: HW & LW
A cold, snowy St. Patrick’s Day saw 4 of the Old Sods meet up again for more fun, banter, food and Subbuteo action!
Having won the last event, Spudski was looking to retain his trophy. With the cold weather affecting all players ability to flick, all games were held inside Puffin’s house rather than the club house (aka cabin). Hopefully we’ll revert back to the cabin for the next session.
Results:
Player Score Score Player
Spudski 0 1 Puffin
Zulublue 2 0 JohnClu48
Puffin 2 0 Zulublue
Spudski 1 0 JohnClu48
Spudski 1 1 Zulublue
Puffin 2 0 JohnClu48
Puffin 1 0 Spudski
JohnClu48 0 2 Zulublue
Zulublue 1 0 Puffin
JohnClu48 0 2 Spudski
Zulublue 1 1 Spudski
JohnClu48 0 2 Puffin
Table:
Player Played Won Drawn Lost G+ G- GD Points
Puffin 6 5 0 1 8 1 7 15
Zulublue 6 3 2 1 7 4 3 11
Spudski 6 2 2 2 5 4 1 8
JohnClu48 6 0 0 6 0 11 -11 0
Having narrowly lost the title in session 2, Puffin bounced back and ran away with the trophy this time out, losing just 1 match and conceding just 1 goal all day.
Zulublue is fast becoming the dark horse of the league, finishing this session in 2nd spot with 3 wins and 2 draws.
Spudski had a day to forget, slipping down the league from 1st to 3rd. Will he bounce back next time?
Although results didn’t go JohnClu48’s way, his gameplay has vastly improved and he was very unlucky to not score a goal this session, having a number of shots saved throughout the day. Expect him to bounce back next time.
SpeedwayMad made a brief visit, playing a friendly against Zulublue. Hopefully he’ll be back next session as he was missed!

Old Sods Meet 4 – 29 April 2018
Location: The Cabin
Following a 6 week break, the Old Sods met up for their 4th meeting. With 5 players attending the meet, there were plenty of games played, along with a flats doubles challenge and a quick penalty shoot out competition.
Results:
Player Score Score Player
Adam 2 0 Andy
Ian 3 0 John
Andy 1 0 Ian
John 0 0 Richard
Adam 0 1 Ian
Andy 1 0 Richard
Adam 2 0 John
Ian 7 0 Richard
Adam 3 0 Richard
Andy 2 0 John
Table:
Player Played Won Drawn Lost G+ G- GD Points
Adam 4 3 0 1 7 1 6 9
Andy 4 3 0 1 4 2 2 9
Ian 4 3 0 1 11 1 10 9
John 4 0 1 3 0 7 -7 1
Richard 4 0 1 3 0 11 -11 1
Still hurting from his performances in meet 3, Ian was on top form this time round, winning 3 out of his 4 games and finishing top of the league on goal difference thanks to a 7-0 win.
Adam hands back the league trophy to Ian, having to settle for 2nd place this time having also won 3 games but with a lower goal difference.
Andy is again showing he can mix it at the top of the table, also winning 3 games and finishing with a positive goal difference. It’s turning into a 3 way battle for top spot between these 3 players; expect the next meeting to be just as competitive between these 3!
John had mixed results today, playing his first games with his newly purchase Pendle Falcon flats teams (which are lovely to play with). A draw against Richard being his best result of the day.
Richard props up the table thanks to his draw with John, but suffered a heavy defeat against Ian. Richard is struggling to find a team that suits his style of play, but was very impressive with OHW in his game against Adam. We may see more of these playing figures in the future.
The flats doubles saw Ian & Adam face Andy & John; Ian & Adam played with original card Subbuteo flat figures whilst Andy & John played with Pendle Falcon replicas. It was a fun and frantic match, played at speed and with lots of banter. The game ended 2 – 0 to Ian & Adam.
Finally we had a quick penalty shootout competition, playing a ‘best of 5 shots’ with Pendle Falcon flats. Results as follows:
John – 4 goals scored
Ian – 3 goals scored
Adam – 3 goals scored
Andy – 2 goals scored
We next meet up at the Stoke OS tournament on 23 June. For more details please contact Andy Bowler at viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25137

Here come The Shaymen

Re: OSC OS (Old Subbuteo Club Old Sods)
First time I had had a chance to flick my new flats. I am not good quite enough yet to do them the justice that they deserve but they were nice to play with and were good when taking the shots with them in the final shoot-out - unfortunately my approach play didn't produce enough shooting chances in normal play

Looking to get a table some time in the near future so that I can try and flick more than every 6 weeks

Re: OSC OS (Old Subbuteo Club Old Sods)
Yes they do require a fair amount of practice , especially if you want to use them against someone using any kind of OO figures , on the upside you soon get used to the quirks John
and once you've spotted them the benefits outweigh the drawbacks
...
I might get to have a flick out and about once June has been and gone .. been a bit busy recently
