Dictover...

Postby spudski » 23 May 2017, 07:51

...somebody is going to be...you couldn't make it up.

If you've ever owned SSG Lilac bases, you'll know the difference between Santiagos and SSG.

Hope no one on here has been fooled into it.

Ha funny that, I have just ordered some lilac Santiago bases so I could see the difference between them and the original SSG bases, there appears to be a sudden flurry of lilac teams on e-bay with these "rare" lilac bases appearing.

This collecting is a minefield- Though as you say definitely a clue in the sellers name!

That's good thinking.

I was with Mark Parker on the weekend who owns Santiago. We together looked at his Old gold bases and compared them with original SSG ones. Near...but still enough difference to notice. The original SSG ones are darker with an almost green tinge.

The Santiago lilac bases are more translucent and lighter than original SSG. Also all uniform...which early lilac bases tend to have a little bit of warping or transgression in the shape.

NO way are they SSG bases, you see that some of the discs to not fit into the bases.
A lot of Italian collectors go loopy for Lilac/purple bases so maybe they are the ones bidding

They are perfect Skell. Right colour and depth and slight warping.
