Cliftonville 0-3 Real Betis

A real game of two halves. Cliftonville dominated the first half but failed to score, despite testing the keeper on numerous occasions. In the second half Betis attacked throughout, and unlike the home side, they took their chances and came away with a 3-0 win.

Leipzig 2-2 Port Vale

Leipzig took the lead midway through the half when their no. 7 took a shot from just outside the box and it flew into the top corner and back out again. In fact it took a video replay to confirm that that the ball had crossed the line. It was still 1-0 at the break.

Now for the 2nd half Vale were shooting at what has so far this season proved to be the 'lucky' Scoreboard terrace in Leipzig. And so it proved as they scored two goals in quick succession. Both were scored by their no. 9 and were placed powerful shots - one into each corner of the Leipzig goal. With the game nearing its conclusion, the Leopzig fans were getting increasingly nervous as they looked set to slip closer to relegation. But up popped their no. 4 with a desperate long distance strike that deflected off a Vale defender and into the back of the net. Vale gave possession away straight from the kick off and Leipzig worked it slowly into the visitors box. When it got there, just seconds befoe the final whistle, their no. 11 was fouled and a penalty was awarded. Could Leipzig secure a massive win in the fight to stay up. Well, no they couldn't, the penalty being high, wide and not very handsome. And that proved to be the final kick in a thoroughly entertaining match.
