Round 18 fixtures

Post by MahlerOO5 » 30 Dec 2011, 05:31

Ok, here are the fixtures for Round 18.

Unfortunately I havent had time to generate up-to-date tables yet, and in any case we still have a lot of unplayed games from the previous 2 rounds (plus one from R15) so the update from last time wouldnt be hugely meaningful anyway...

Division 1

Velez Sarsfield 1 vs Dynamo Dresden 1
Yeovil Town 1 vs Birmingham City 1 - this game was played in August and doesnt need replaying
Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 vs Tranmere Rovers 1
Apoel Nicosia 4 vs Brighton 1
Manchester City 3 vs Manchester United 0
Liverpool 2 vs Toronto 0
Derry City 2 vs Leicester City 3
Coventry City 4 vs West Ham 2
Swansea City 1 vs Tatran Presov 0
Finn Harps 1 vs Fiorentina 3

Division 2

Fluminense 3 vs Rangers 4
WBA 2 vs Bohemians 0 - game played in August etc. Very rare home win for the Tesco Bags 8)
Partick Thistle 3 vs Shamrock Rovers 2
Cliftonville 1 vs Dagenham & Redbridge 1
Mechelen 1 vs Melchester Rovers 1
Lazio 3 vs Southport 2
Floriana 1 vs Northampton Town 0
Loko Leipzig 3 vs Real Betis 2
Port Vale 2 vs Norwich City 2
Stade Brestois 1 vs Go Ahead Eagles 0
HW teams needed- 237
OHW; 37,38
RugbyHW: 9,24,27,29,31,33,36 Celluloids: 28 green;39;55

Adrian

There's a reason why that happened. I am trying to pick up all the games that were played back in August, and so some of the Rounds we are playing currently are actually out of their natural sequence.

We played Rounds 1-14 in sequence, but since then we jumped ahead. For example, R15 is actually week 21 of the fixture list, R16 is actually week 22, etc.

That means that some of the normal "home" & "away" sequencing has been slightly mucked up for some teams such as Port Vale. You will make up the home games later in the season.

The rationale for doing this was that quite of a lot of the "August" games would not otherwise appear until the final few weeks of the natural sequence season. In effect, some teams had already played up to 3 of their last 4 games. I didnt think that was very satisfactory from a number of different points of view...

So I am picking off all the Rounds where there are August games, and that will then leave us with about 12 clear rounds of fixtures for the end of the season where all the o games have yet to be played.

This explanation is probably as clear as mud, but rest assured all games will be played and everyone will get thew same number of home and away games. But there may be one or two quirks in hone vs away sequencing yet to be endured, for a few more weeks at least...

just played the match , as silly hollyoaks bored me, Finn Harps 1 - 3 Fiorentina.... !!! dammit my boys played the worse 5 mins ever!!

Fiorentina battered in two great goals in the early mins of the game, only for Finns to play catch up which tbh... was a crappy effort.

second half saw a little comeback, 2 - 1 , but fiorentina sealed the Harps fate with a tap in from the corner,

Finn Harps manager

"I AM DISGRACED, how can ANY of my players hold their head high!!! , i'll be in the office examining what has happened, time for some whippin' and head bashing through the training week!!"

Another result just in:

Derry City 2 vs Leicester City 3

A very exciting game this, with the decider (player8) scored in the dying seconds. The 2nd Leicester goal was a stunner - long range effort with the player (player9) starting his "run" from about the half way line and with a delicious curl on the 3rd flick to slide the ball home: I couldnt replicate that if I tried 20 times....

Important details for Jim's records: Leicester goalscorers: #9 (2); #8 (1)

Swansea 1 v Tatran Presov 0

Both teams struggled to create chances and the home fans had to wait until the 98th minute for the only goal of the game. The scorer was fullback Hadziabdic and even that was helped into the net by a deflection.
