Was hoping to play the remaining 4 matches in the first round of the EPL today, but a mix up with the fixture list has delayed that. So I managed to play one FA Cup 1st Rd match. The match of the round took place at a very noisy Anfield where Liverpool took on last season's champions Chelsea. A very evenly contested match ended up 0-0 when the final whistle blew. Chelsea went on to win the tie 1-0 AET. Liverpool must now aim to be in the top 2 by the time 10 matches are played in the league, in order to qualify for the European Cup, if they're expecting any cup success this season.

In my panic to try and get Liverpool through, I think I gave them a corner when it should've been a goal kick to Chelsea! Anyway enjoy and feel free to point out any other errors!

Good to see some action and get a sample of the atmosphere, DS. Well done, you're miles ahead of me in the technology stakes.

As for any criticism: 1) I didn't see any errors, as I was simply enjoying watching the game, and 2) I wouldn't dare! Even in Subbuteo you can't see everything all the time, when you're watching shooting, saving and everything else.

All that really matters is that you are as honest as possible with yourself. I always claim that it wouldn't be worth "manipulating" the matches, as they nearly always create more intriguing outcomes than I could possibly invent.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks BPR. Might try and record a midweek cup game under the lights this week. I had to reset the fixtures for the EPL so the 4 games that I've already played will be recorded whenever that fixture comes around. Glad you're enjoying the coverage.

Today's EPL results:
Man U 1-2 Stoke
Leeds 2-1 Newcastle
Burnley 2-2 Notts For
Spurs 0-0 Sunderland
Liverpool 0-0 Everton
Stoke hit the post three times in the opening match. Newcastle took the lead in the 2nd match but a good comeback for leeds. Burnley were 2-0 down and did very well to earn the draw. They very nearly got a last gasp winner but a great save from the Forest keeper means a share of the points. Spurs v Sunderland was boring enough and it was all Liverpool in their home match with Everton. Another poor result at Anfield after losing to Chelsea in the cup.

Today's EPL matches. Aston Villa v Man City

Aston Villa 1-1 Man City. Having lost their opening match away to Sunderland, villa needed to get something from their first home match of the new campaign. It wasn't going to be easy against City but as this was City's first match Villa were hoping to catch them out. But to the dismay of the home fans the away team took the lead just before half time. But Villa put up a good fight and were rewarded for all their accurate flicking by getting an equaliser just before the final whistle. City will feel like it was 2 points dropped rather than 1 gained.

Southampton 1-1 Chelsea.

Opening match for both teams. Very even contest. The defending champions Chelsea will be happy with an opening away point.

Arsenal 0-1 WBA.

After a very impressive opening day away win at Newcastle, Arsenal must have been sure they would have a 100% record after this home game against WBA. But the away team showed no nerves and scored what was to be the winner early in the first half. Arsenal hit the bar in the dying seconds.

FA Cup 1st RD. Spurs 1-3 Man Utd.

A great away cup win for United after a 2-1 home defeat in the league by Stoke on the opening day. United played on the break and cruised into a 2-0 lead before half time. Their flicking throughout the match was flawless. But just as the White Hart Lane LPM got themselves back into contention at 2-1, United broke again and made it 3-1. Man U now join Chelsea in the draw for the next round.

Today's EPL games flicked off with a big one, Liverpool v Arsenal. Every time I see this fixture I get haunted by a nightmare evening back in May 1989. Time for revenge?! Liverpool took the lead early on only to be pegged back by a dogged Arsenal before half time. But the Anfield flickers went on to claim a well deserved 2-1 win which puts them top of the table for this week. You can watch the big match build up here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t_-p_u ... e=youtu.be

Burnley 2-1 Chelsea. Newcomers to the DS Solo world, Burnley raced into a 2-0 lead only to let Chelsea back into it before half time. A very nervy 2nd half was in store for Burnley as Chelsea piled on the pressure. But Burnley held on.
IMG_0543.JPG

Spurs 4-3 WBA. Game of the season so far. WBA were 2-0 up and cruising only for Spurs to score two quick goals in succession. When WBA scored to make it 3-2 it looked a little to much for Spurs to come back again. But come back again they did, they made it 3-3 with a minute left and in the dying seconds scored an incredible winner. Spurs remain unbeaten after two games.

Aston V 1-0 Southampton. Dreary stuff all the way. Hitting a goalpost each and a couple of corners was as exciting as it got...until the very last seconds when S'oton's flicking keeper gave it straight to a Villa attacker who rolled it gently into an empty net.

Today's EPL results.

Man Utd 1-0 Spurs. Two wins in a row for United as Spurs suffer their first league defeat.
Liverpool 2-3 Burnley. Burnley continue their impressive start to the season with this fine win at Anfield. Burnley led twice only to be pegged back on both occasions by a shaky looking Liverpool team. But Burnley collect all three points after a late winner at the Kop end. Below, Leeds players watch the match between Liverpool and Burnley as they wait to take to the field against Aston Villa.
DSC_0056.JPG

Southampton 1-2 Stoke. Southampton took the lead and held onto it for most of the game. But two cracking long range goals meant victory for Stoke, who climb well up the table with this away win.

Aston Villa 0-1 Leeds. Leeds continue their fine start. They now have 7 points from 3 games and this result leaves Villa with 4 points from 4 games. So gaps are starting to appear. But the result of this match was not the big talking point as an incident in the second half halted any flicking for 48 seconds. See picture. A villa figure was seriously injured when a volvo careered onto the pitch right in front of the not so packed main stand! An ambulance and air support was scrambled very quickly. The figure was airlifted to the nearest gluing facility whereas the base was taken by road to the A&E where it is being monitored for any scratches. A local 3 year old is believed to be responsible and is being questioned by his mother. We will bring further news as it develops.
