The least the 3 year old could do was let us borrow his vehicles after the incident he caused! :lol!:

Today's EPL

WBA 0-1 Notts For. The LPM from the city ground continue their good form.
Chelsea 2-3 Sunderland. Chelsea still have only one point after 3 games while s'land climb near the top
Man C 2-2 Everton. City were 2-0 up and cruising. Two 2nd half goals earned the toffees a great point. Everton nearly snatched a winner at the very end.

It's back to the SPL next week. Here's how that table looks a third of the way through.

----------P PTS GD
Celtic--4---7-- +1
A'deen-4---5-- =
Rangs--4---4--- =
Dund---4---4-- -1

The 6 remaining ties in the 1st rd of the FA Cup will also be played next week.

Well it was back to the SPL today and as in the previous weeks there weren't many goals to report about. 10 games played in the league now and still only 5 goals scored! And that one goal was scored at Ibrox as Rangers beat their old firm rivals 1-0. Rangers now top the table on goal difference from Celtic. The Ibrox men are the only unbeaten team in the league now. The match between Dundee and Aberdeen ended in stalemate. Below is some action from both matches.

It's all very tight in that Scottish League, and today's crowd appear to have behaved themselves, too.

Security has been beefed up since the incident last week. No more subbuteo while the 3 year old is lurking about!

The final 4 matches from the 1st Rd of the FA Cup were played today.

Newcastle 1-2 Leeds. Leeds remain unbeaten in both league and cup.
Arsenal 1-3 Southampton. Arsenal have now lost 3 in a row and it's a first win of the season for the Saints.
Stoke 1-3 Burnley. 3 wins and a draw is an excellent start to the season for Burmley, they should've had 5 or 6!
Everton 0-2 Notts For. Forest's good form continues. Just one defeat in five at this stage.

The draw for the quarter finals have been made:
WBA v S'oton
Chelsea v Notts F
Burnley v Leeds
Man U v S'land
It's back to league action next week.

Five matches played in the EPL today. Matches now being played on baize.

Man U 2-0 Liverpool. 3 league wins in a row for Man U and through to the next rd of the FA Cup. 2 league defeats in a row for the Pool.
Aston V 0-1 Spurs. 2 defeats in a row for Villa. Spurs climb into the top 6.
S'oton 2-1 Burnley. Shock. S'oton's first win in 4 as Burnley suffer their first defeat.
Arsenal 1-1 Leeds. The Elland road LPM continue their unbeaten run. Arsenal still to hit top form.
Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle. Match of the day. How this game remained 0-0 is a mystery. Posts, bars and good goalkeeping explains it.

Table.
1 Man U 4 3 0 1 5 2 9
2 Leeds 4 2 2 0 5 3 8
3 Burnley 4 2 1 1 8 7 7
4 Sunderl 4 2 1 1 6 5 7
5 Liverpool 5 2 1 2 6 6 7
6 Spurs 4 2 1 1 5 4 7
7 Notts For 4 2 1 1 4 3 7
8 Stoke 3 2 0 1 5 4 6
9 Everton 4 1 2 1 4 4 5
10 Arsenal 4 1 1 2 4 5 4
11 Newcastl 4 1 1 2 4 5 4
12 S'oton 4 1 1 2 4 5 4
13 Aston V 5 1 1 3 3 5 4
14 Man C 3 0 3 0 4 4 3
15 WBA 4 1 0 3 4 7 3
16 Chelsea 4 0 2 2 4 6 2

Action from Highbury as Arsenal and Leeds draw 1-1.

Like the new playing surface, hope I can get my 'new' one looking in such a good condition for my next season.

Of course, the better playing surfaces favour the better footballing sides, so may we hope that your best footballing side benefits from such a quality surface and climbs up the table from it's present 9th!

(Of course I'm biased, but I was brought up on the displays of Ball, Harvey, Kendall and company, when Goodison Park was known as the "School of Science".)

Thanks BPR. I'm happy enough for them to remain in 9th!

I prefer the baize to the astro. The ball seems to run a bit too quickly on the astro. I got my first taste of the baize in Italy back in May and I loved it right away. So I got this one from a very kind forum member.

Apologies for my cheeky plug for the Toffees; full marks for your reply. Can't help wondering, though, how many followers of your (and others') leagues take a quick look for their team's fortunes first, before reading the full information.

I agree with your comment about the running of the ball on the astro. I find trying to judge the pace of a pass particularly difficult, as a slightly different contact appears to make an exaggerated difference to the pace of the ball. I suspect most of this is either due to the smaller FF ball, or, by far the more likely, me.

Also. another reason for my looking forward to a change of surface, is how the different bases react on it.

Keep up your good work; it continues to make an interesting read.

D.S. SOLO WORLD UPDATE.

Having difficulty trying to get the 3 outstanding fixtures played in the EPL this week. The 3 year old is lurking but I might have to take a chance on it. Maybe an hour of Bob the builder could distract him! Those fixtures are - WBA v Stoke, Man C v Notts F, Everton v S'land.

It's a cold, wet Saturday here with hailstones and this reminds me of when I first played Subbuteo in my youth. I used to love Saturday mornings in the winter. Playing solo leagues while waiting for football focus to come on and being holed up in my room with a crackling radio 5 live. It still gives me the same thrill to be honest.

The SPL will also continue this week. There has been a slight change in qualification for the European Cup in the SPL. Instead of the top 2 teams going through after 6 matches it will now be the top 2 after 9 matches. This will bring it closer to the end of the campaign and also closer to the EPLs top 2 after 10 games. The SPL table as it stands.

---------P W D L F A PTS
Rang---5 1 4 0 1 0 7
Celtic--5 2 1 2 2 2 7
A'deen-5 1 3 0 1 1 6
Dunde-5 1 2 2 1 2 5

So the 2 teams from the SPL & EPL will join the following 28 clubs in a format of 8 groups of 4. Teams play each other once and the top team from each group will progress to the last 8.
The European clubs are: Malmo FF, Dundalk, Porto, Benfica, S Bucharest, A Madrid, R Madrid, Barcelona, Inter, AC, Juventus, B Munich, B Dortmund, B Leverkusen, Crusaders, Ajax, PSV, Brugge, S Prague, A Vienna, D Zagreb, Olympiacos, L Warsaw, R S Belgrade, D Kiev, Rosenborg, PSG, Marseille.

Will post a video of the Champions League launch night shortly.

A very nice trophy, well worth playing for.

Your Scottish League remains tight, with goals at a premium. Do you think it's just because of the LW's, or influenced because the four teams are evenly matched, and don't want to give anything away?

Going back, just a little, to your Chelsea v Newcastle match, I often find some of the most enjoyable matches to play are the low-scoring tight ones, whether it's because of a few missed chances or defences simply playing well, with players in the right places, by intended placement or just the run of the ball.
