It has come to light that the Player is David Lyon from Llandudno, who represented Wales at the 1974 Subbuteo World Cup.
He also played in Youth International matches against England

It was a golden era for Subbuteo and a lot of other toys/games where after sales participation was huge

There is one made by Granada in 1978 of Norman Gleave who was to represent England at the 78 World Cup, I have searched all over for it but no luck
