Hey Paul...hope you are good bud...
Maybe they did have them made Paul, I'll bow to your better knowledge on such things...however... I honestly don't think these examples are the real deal.
So many things standing out as wrong on all of them.
Take the 1968 display as an example. It's obviously a Catalogue cut up and slapped on some cardboard. You can even see the crease and staple marks/holes. Even the names of the teams are cut out from a 70's poster catalogue and stuck on. Karlsruher weren't even mentioned by SSG in 1968...not until the 70's poster catalogues. So a 1968 display with 1970's poster names stuck on...
Then the majority of the ohw players all have playwear.
There are endless mistakes on all of these imo.
If i'm proved wrong i'll willingly apologise and crawl back under my rock...but imo...these are way off the mark.
I am not sure if you where there Ian, but about 2008 at Renishaw a chap had something similar on sale, he had about 3 different display units, I know Pete Moss bought one, one was very close to the ones discussed here. Without actually seeing them in the flesh, so to speak, we cannot say for certain one way or the other, my mate from SSG has said about 30 such things where taken by HASBRO on the closure of Oulton Gate.
Also something to bare in mind, back in those days no computer generated screen shots where done, so perhaps, and its a guess, certain things were hand made. I know for certain that things from the warehouse in Dublin do appear on ebay from time to time. Like I say without having in ones hands we cannot confirm one way or the other
Totally agree Paul...unless in the hand, you can never be sure 100%.
And yes I can imagine many things were made by hand and were often rough.
I'm still not convinced by these examples though...too many things ring bells for me, but it would be lovely to be proved wrong. I won't be bidding though. Thanks for the input...much appreciated as always fella.

I reckon all are genuine, they are poorly put together from a graphics point of view but all have that rush cut paste look about them
Should make some nice money
If they were repro someone would have spent more thought getting it just so
Only my opinion mind

We can all sit here and say this or that. We will never know for certain
One other theory is that, if they are from the Dublin warehouse, the person who has lifted them, might have put the wrong figures in etc or replaced missing ones.
At the 1978 Subbuteo World Cup in London, there were display units with the 1974 teams in!!!!

The figures will have been altered at some point to replace broken/missing ones and the labels added by someone with a limited knowledge of kit history . See the last one 1969 ? Dundee stuck above the 49 wrong club plus the correct one Dundee United only started wearing that kit in the summer of 69 (Bryan Adams must have had that in mind

) ... the 23 Bradford City has the Partick sticker presumably the work of a soothsayer as the Jags wouldn't switch to stripes until the summer of 75 (no tune springs to mind) ...
in short they are interesting but not quite right someone somewhere has altered what was and spoiled them somewhat ?

oh and Bristol Rovers didn't wear quarters between 1962 and 1973 ..now I can't be bothered checking the 69 list to see how SSG listed them but I don't see why they'd be on this board ? looks to me like someone has put whatever they fancied on there years later ?

Lots of it doesn't ring true Ralph imo. So many things just don't add up. I've seen pics from the Tournament in 1970 at the Savoy...SSG spent money on presentation as well as scoreboard. None of it looked as shabby as the ones advertised. Especially when the descriptions in the adverts also don't make sense.

Or both

Either way I think the displays are genuine, but they don't have most of the original players in place and I suspect team names have been added. The cut and paste way of making them is quite typical of the period and probably made up at the factory as they are one off displays for specific events.
