Re: Best way to conduct competitions?
Your match reports are very realistic and highly descriptive. I feel like I am there, or reading the report in the paper.
I forget its just a game of Subbuteo. Nice one.

Re: A Solo Subbuteo Blog
The reply was that youngsters find the traditional method of the player not following the ball onto the pitch difficult to master . If the ball is hit full face, yes it is I suppose. But in snooker terms, give it a bit of side. That's not too difficult is it? As someone said, " kids eh!!"...

Re: A Solo Subbuteo Blog
Overall, the most enjoyable, and rewarding, figures to use, imho, are flats, with an FF ball, preferably brown, and NN goals. Before any psychologists suggest that it is remembering my youth, it's from further back than that. The earliest teams I played with were the original heavyweights. Agreed 1...

Re: A Solo Subbuteo Blog
I was always rightly or wrongly informed in my youth that Newfooty was a poor mans Subbuteo. You were rightly informed!! :lol!: :lol!: Seriously though, Subbuteo was always going to be a more highly evolved and developed product than Mr. Keeling's offering. That was PA's intention from day one, and...

Re: A Solo Subbuteo Blog
I've always used the suggested and definitive method for throw ins, in match play or solo play, by flicking the ball into play with a player...however the player must NOT cross the touch line or it is deemed a foul throw.

Re: Best way to conduct competitions?
My only idea was to nominate half the teams as belonging to one player and the other half to the other player and then keep track of the scores That is EXACTLY what I did when my mate and I had leagues and cups going, back in early '70's. It worked well for the leagues, but we used the bracket syst...

Re: Playing Subbuteo again
I’ve read everyone’s comments although I disagree that using Zeugo flats makes it a completely different game. It’s fundamentally the same of course, just minus spinning, but with the added addition of greater shooting proficiency. It’s easier to hit lofted shots which leads to more goals which I t...
