Re: Playing Subbuteo again

Hargy, this is amazing. That you kept all your gear for 30 years! Would love to see some pics especially if there’s anything ‘rare’. It’s an odd quirk of modern collecting, especially HW’s, that the price can vary from £10 to £600, for teams which all would have cost pennies in the 1970’s, regardless.

Re: ycfcfan

Hy Paul, I agree with you. I also noticed the description of some teams called mint and with 2/3 players glued and badly, or rebased and badly and with very ugly ref stickers, it's not like the other vendors trying to cover up their fakes, here the teams for sale are either completely real (maybe b...

Re: ycfcfan

Some of "Spinbowler's" teams look ok, some look a bit dodgy. He could do with revising the item description for this particular ref 152 that's on ebay at the moment. It's not "mint" as he states. There's 1 reglue, bottom left. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subbuteo-Bulgaria-Named-Box-HW-Team-Ref-152-M...

Re: ycfcfan

Hy mates. Never buy from him, ycfcfan, because in my personal opinion so many teams are so strange. Is true,he come out every time with a lot with so many rare teams. I have try to buy some teams from SPINBOWLER1,just because in my personal opinion he was a collector years ago and now he's put his en...

Re: ycfcfan

He's a strange one alright. I've been collecting for 7 years and during that time he has been selling 'in bursts' on eBay. By that, I mean that he won't have anything for a few months, then suddenly he'll put up 10 to 15 teams, almost always with ref stickers, usually with little playwear, often wit...

Re: 1970 World Cup Solo Replay

It's good to see the tournament getting into full swing and producing some quality football, after the travel difficulties some teams had in getting there. Thanks again, BR. Yes it's true the Bulgarians are still on the tarmac in Sofia, and show no signs of getting off the ground anytime soon. Two ...

Re: 1970 World Cup Solo Replay

Italy vs Sweden (Continued)... The game continued to ebb and flow until the final minute when Italy's high pressing paid off and Jan Olsson fouled Domenghini 30 yards from goal and up-stepped Luigi Riva to blast the free kick over the Swedish wall and into the roof of the net. The Italians win this...

Sweden Ref 162

Would welcome your opinions on this one. Very messy with lots of excess glue on the bases which are of the thick-lipped (dux?) type and some of the discs look a bit ill-fitting. At first, I thought the penned numbers on the bases had glue over the top of them, which would have meant a certain re-bas...

Re: 1970 World Cup Solo Replay

Overview and Progress Update I should have started with a tournament overview but I suppose I couldn't wait to jump in with both feet! Format is mostly as per my 1966 solo replay. Full-size 1960s/70's baize cloth pitch, with standard C154 goals and 22mm replica WC1970 balls. Ten minutes each way wi...
