Fixing/Smoothing a Damaged Base

Post by KirkH »

I bought a used team set on eBay and one of the players had a base that was scratched/nicked on the bottom. I'm an old modeler so I used Tamiya putty to fill in the cracks/dents and then spent time sanding, smoothing, and polishing the base so that it has a mirror like surface. Problem is, even though now his base appears smoother than his teammates, he's still far slower. Just wondering what else I can do to improve the "slideability" (if that's a word) of his base.
