Re: Fixed these up last night

Another one of the teams I picked up earlier in the year. This team had 7 good men, the rest are restored and/or replica figures.

Yep, just one from Subbuteo World - wrong style of box for this team obviously - but have to have somewhere to live :)

Cheers Jim - It's easy to spot the Santiago figures, but that's cool they are only for my pleasure and I'll never sell them anyway. If ever I get spares I'll replace them. In the meantime it's nice to have a full compliment.

Really impressed with the restorations on these teams, i know the Santiago type 1 figure isnt an exact replica the OHW, but with the slight alteration you have done on the left arm they make a very close match.

I have taken to painting some type 1 recently as i have had a new batch made, and am in the middle of painting a load of kits from 1960. On the historicalkits website it notes that this type of kit (short sleeved v neck) was called "Continental Style", and wondered if this was why Subbuteo called the box sets of the 50`s and 60`s "Continental Club Edition".

Having great fun researching and painting the old late 50`s early 60`s kits, makes a change from painting the type 2 all the time.

Cheers Mark - I enjoy restoring teams, good fun and satisfying. All for my own pleasure I hasten to add - not for sale.

The arm is easy to do plus a couple of other alterations with the craft knife and even I find it difficult to tell the difference close-up...except for the feet of course.

I read the historicalkits site and thought exactly the same thing re "Continental"

I got this team this week - a real shame as it was originally a ref 12. When I stripped it I was surprised to see that it had striped socks.

The box is a genuine cut out lid (now missing) with yellow cellophane stuck over the top - not sure how to restore that  The goalie is a stand in - haven't finished him yet.

Picked these up from Big Ben recently. Very badly painted by SSG so I decided to touch them up.

The three play worn players obviously from another team & different color too.
