geow6 - International football
Currently on with the World Cup 2018 qualifiers, I've just got the last round of matches to play in Europe before I reach the half way stage in qualifying.
I then plan to take a break from World Cup action and play the Copa America Centenario, before the Africa Cup of Nations.
Then it'll be back to the qualifiers which will hopefully be completed by this time next year ready for the finals. Got to squeeze in the Confederations Cup too!
Will post tables from each qualifying section once I've got the European section done up to the half way point.

Excellent stuff. What type of bases are you using? Looking forward to the results and tables. Some pics would be fantastic as I believe they help tell how a story unfolds or progresses. Well done and best of luck with the rest.geow6 wrote:Currently on with the World Cup 2018 qualifiers, I've just got the last round of matches to play in Europe before I reach the half way stage in qualifying.

Re: geow6 - International football
I play with the new Zeugo range, I've got most international teams but not many African teams. They don't realise many other than Cameroon and Algeria. Most I will have to paint myself but I can't get the right shade for the skin tone.Excellent stuff. What type of bases are you using? Looking forward to the results and tables. I'll get pictures and will try find a website to create the tables to make them easy to read. I've got them all scribbled in a book at the moment!

Re: geow6 - International football
Will do. Can post all the tables apart from Europe tonight.
Re: geow6 - International football
Few groups left to go. Some teams looking like they're already qualified from the European section even after 5 games.
Re: geow6 - International football
Right then, updates from each qualifying section coming. First up:
SOUTH AMERICA
Argentina are on a winning run at the moment, and look well on course to be one of the first teams to qualify for Russia 2018. The next five teams are all battling for the remaining three automatic places and there is also an Intercontinental play-off place for the country that finishes 5th. One team will miss out completely, with Uruguay and Colombia - the latter who were top after the first few games have gone off the boil since - have work to do to get back in the frame for qualification.

AFRICA
Five groups in the African section, top team qualifies directly. Similar to knockout football expect the teams play each other home and away. Ivory Coast lead the way in their group but still have work to do. Libya have been the surprise of the section so far, leaving Ghana and Egypt trailing in their wake. Senegal also have pole position in a group which contains Congo and DR Congo - safe to say which the juiciest match up is in that particular group! Algeria, Cape Verde and Morocco couldn't be locked any tighter, and the way that group is heading you feel the team that doesn't beat Burkina Faso could pay a huge price. Finally, Cameroon just lead South Africa but both teams have two wins and a defeat to their name after three matches. It's certainly still up for grabs in all five groups, but some are much, much closer than others.

Re: geow6 - International football
Second half of WCQ under way. Argentina could only draw and the chasing pack - Peru, Brazil and Paraguay all won. Brazil v Argentina next. Big clash.
Re: geow6 - International football
Down to the last five qualifying matches in the South American section. Argentina still lead the way but it's getting close. Full update on table and hopefully some action shots over the weekend.
Re: geow6 - International football
Incredible late drama in South America as Argentina and Brazil take huge steps towards qualification. Brazil came from behind and scored an injury time winner as they defeated a resurgent Colombia 3-2 in Rio de Janeiro. Group leaders Argentina raced into a lead after just 20 seconds then hit the bar in the first minute at home to Paraguay. But, the third paced visitors found their feet and came themselves, hitting the post and then both posts on separate occasions. In stoppage time, the home keeper made a great save to turn a certain goal over the bar and Paraguay wasted the corner as Argentina held on to win 1-0 and now need just one more victory from their last four qualifiers to progress.

Re: geow6 - International football
South America down to the last two matches. The big two - Argentina and Brazil - have already secured their passages to Russia 2018. Some key matches to play which will determine who take the final two automatic spots, and all the way down to Uruguay still have a chance of at least 5th place and the Intercontinental play-off.

Re: geow6 - International football
Bit of a pain posting pictures of the tables - they keep uploading sideways on.
Anyway, South America qualifying section complete. Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador all booking their place at Russia 2018. Chile finish 5th and go into the Intercontinental play-off.
On with Africa now, shouldn't take too long to complete and quite a few of the usual suspects are doing well.

Re: geow6 - International football
Senegal and Algeria the first two African sides to qualify. Three more places left up for grabs with one round of matches still to play.
